Calming Aid by Findley Reed provides all natural support to help reduce anxiety, irritability and stress in dogs. Environmental stressors such as trips to the veterinarian, travel, house guests, thunderstorms, fireworks and other loud noises can cause your dog to exhibit nervousness, hyperactivity, excess barking, abnormal urine marking, excessive scratching, and destructive or aggressive behavior. Key ingredients include Ginger, Tryptophan, Valerian Root and Skullcap. Ginger is an herb that is commonly used to help treat stomach upset, diarrhea and nausea. Tryptophan is a natural essential amino acid that the body uses to help make the hormone serotonin, which is thought to encourage healthy sleeping patterns and a stable mood. Valerian Root and Skullcap are herbs which have been used medicinally to help reduce anxiety. Active Ingredients: Potassium (Amino Acid Chelate), Ginger Extract, Magnesium (Citrate), Pyridoxine (B6), Tryptophan, Valerian Root, and Skullcap. Contains 90 liver flavored chewable tablets. Directions for use: Dogs under 25 lbs. – 1 tablet; 25-75 lbs. – 2 tablets; over 75 lbs. – 3 tablets.

Perfect for Big Dogs
I think some of the negative reviews are from people hoping for a morphine affect. We work with multiple dog rescues and have tried every product on the market. This one is by far the best and most affordable. We buy bottles of these to give out to our friends and family. Two of these a half hour before a storm can make our Australian Cattle and Pit Bulls happy campers. There are no side effects except maybe some laziness, but the dogs are very calm and serene. Our 80 lb pit bull only needs one and he's great for a few hours. Our 50 lb Australian Cattle needs two coupled with a thundershirt. You'll need to dip them in peanut butter or inside a treat as they are not flavored, but you won't find a better price so a jar of peanut butter is worth it.

Did not work on my Yorkie Poo
It does not work on my Yorkie Poo. I have a high strung Yorkie Poo, afraid of noises outside, barks at everything all day. I read the reviews on this product and thought I would try it. I gave her one and it did nothing. I try again several times, and she did not calm down even a little bit. One day I gave her one due to the thunder, she did not calm down, a waited a half hour and gave her another, and she still was shaking and hiding.I know different things work on different dogs, this did not work for mine, so I gave it 2 stars.

They Work!!
I bought these tablets for a very active, energetic lab that loves to chew on rugs and sometimes has problems with separation anxiety. He calms down and he doesn't show some of his negative behavior. These calming tablets doesn't cause the dog to be moppy or tired, but they will definitely help with hyperactivity.

Packaging could be improved
The tablets themselves seem to work as well as other products I have used in the past. My complaint is that like a bag of chips, these things come in a huge, half empty bottle, and in my case they did not come with any protective cotton-ish stuffing in the bottle like you would normally find in pharmaceuticals. Consequently, about a third of the pills were smashed to powder by the time they had made it through shipping.

Great product
I have a 75 pound Lab. and she is deathly afraid of thunder and lighting , we found her about three years ago and she was then 43 pounds I have tried other products but stopped when she became not her self. I don't believe in giving animals drugs and this product fits the bill perfectly.

This product seems to help my dog.
I have an elderly lab mix with dementia and this product seems to keep her relaxed and less fearful of thunderstorms and being left alone. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is the crumbling and breaking of the tablets. I would like more information on long-term use.

My daughters dog, which is a screwed up dog, is much better while on this product. This dog would not leave his kennel and associate with her family, and this product got her out of the kennel and mixing with the family!! Always, check with your vet for the ok!!
