These write a nice dark line. I am a lefty and so far haven't had much smudging which is great. The erasers work well too. This has become my favorite pencil. I hope Amazon keeps them available for purchase. I think they are worth the price.

Norica's are one of my favorite writing pencils. These appear to be a tad darker than the black Norica's, and the core appeared to be smaller in diameter to my black ones. The black ones are cheaper, and feel smoother on paper. But the differences are mostly price. I'm a fan of this pencil. You can watch YouTube vids (search rixcandoit) about this pencil.

I was tired of the lead constantly breaking as I sharpened pencils or just after sharpening them. These (thus far) are not doing that. My husband actually used one when he was cutting some lumber and said he really liked it because of how dark the marks were on the wood.

For the longest time, I bought whichever pencils were cheapest. And then I started noticing that some pencils felt better in my hand, broke less, and lasted longer, and I embarked on a quest to find the right pencil for me. I used Dixon Ticonderogas for a while, and I still like them, but one day I found a Staedtler Norica in my pencil stash. To this day, I have no idea where it came from. I used to teach, and my husband still does, and just as students walk off with your pencils sometimes, so do they leave one behind every now and again. Regardless, I couldn't help but notice how its soft lead glided smoothly across the paper and how rarely I had to sharpen it. I found myself using it less and less frequently because I wanted it to last, and then I realized: why not buy a carton for myself? So I ordered these and am thrilled. The quality is excellent and I've got them stashed all over the house and in my bag now that I don't have to use them so sparingly. I'll probably try another Staedtler pencil or two to be sure these are my favorites, but so far, I love them. The eraser's inconsistent, though: it gets crumbly on certain types of paper, which is frustrating and messy.

These are quality pencils that write very smoothly. The graphite yields very dark writing and drawing, which is great especially for school children on exams. I find that they are also very useful for adults looking to make indelible notes, and they erase cleanly as well. They're definitely a great value for the price.

Very good pencils for the price. I am not a professional artist, I use them to write in my daybook. Instead of ink pen. Plus it's a great pleasure to write with a pencil anyway. Good for stress :)

It is my pencil of choice since I first used it. Smooth, lasting and erases well.( I prefer using another eraser but like that the pencils's eraser works well also.) Great for lettering!
