Grip pads
I got this plate for my Nikon AW100 - a small camera - which is mounted on a small ballhead which in turn is mounted on a suction mount on my kayak. I do take 'bow shots', but often want to get the camera off. To get the camera off the ballhead requires unscrewing it from the ballhead's 1/4-20 thread - a pain and potential drop into deep water. I thought an AS plate would allow for a quicker, more secure disconnect. My camera, however, rotates easily on this 60 mm plate. I cannot tighten it enough. The camera's only about half as wide as the plate, so the plate's rubbery grips don't fully bear - only a small amount of 'grip pad area' is actually under my narrow camera. The grip pad pattern is clearly shown - my fault. I got a 60mm plate so I could also use it on my D300, which has a much bigger base. The plate works much better on the D300, although the plate's pads could be a tad 'grippier'. I'll look for a smaller AS plate with a better grip pattern for my small camera or find a thin, rubbery membrane to put between the plate and my camera. My problem with the plate is simply that is not 'grippy' enough for my small camera.

High Quality Product, large footprint against camera base
PRO's:All in all, these plates are very nice. The black finish is very consistent and semi gloss. The machine shop did their job and relieved any sharp corners or burrs. The side that contacts the camera base has anti-slip material inlaid into the plate with no gaps or other signs of poor quality. This anti=slip material is quite dense and seems very adequate to prevent marring of the camera base, time will tell. There are three slots for the the mounting screw giving you a choice for your applications. That said, I have never had the need to use anything but the absolute center of the plate and use the mounting screw right there. So having three slots seems like a waste to me.This base has a bail built into the mount screw to help finger tighten the plate to the camera. Finally, they mate up with every single Arca base clamp I have, and that is a good thing.CON's:I like the narrower more traditional 39 mm width where it contacts the camera bottom vs. these which are 44 mm wide. It doesn't hinder the attachment process in anyway, I just prefer 39 mm.I was surprised the provided screw had a bail - so you could finger tighten it, but it lacked the usual hex key (allen) socket. I prefer the hex key because the hex keys do not slip out while tightening the screw. The provided screw had a slot for a screw driver instead, which requires the mobile photographer to carry along a flat blade screwdriver in addition to a hex key.Nothing in the CON's list would prevent me from ordering these again. These work fine and I wish I had bought four instead of two. If and when I need more (way down the road), I know they will be much more expensive. I hope this helps someone make up their minds...

Well made and works well, but wider than shown
These fit all my Arca Swiss fittings well, and provide a very sturdy foundation for camera equipment. Easy to attach to camera or tripod.Follow-up: I ordered another one in December 2021. The drawing shows a width of 38.5 mm, but the one I received is approximately 43 mm wide. Although the width is all right on the tripod side (approximately 38 mm), 43 mm is too wide. It means that I will have to remove the plate to change the card or battery. There are two pictures in the description, and they are not the same plate. One shows 38.5 mm, but the other shows a plate that is wider on the camera side.I have deducted two stars, and will probably return it unopened.

If you use Arca Swiss standard tripod ball head get this one, for anything that you want to mount into your ball head. I used this to mount my PTZ camera to my tripod.

Not perfect
Nice little product for price but I have issues from day one sliding the thumbnail bolt to a different position. Keeps jamming where I can't slide the bracket to balance camera

Adequate but not as pictured
There's really not much to say about a generic Arca Swiss plate. The quality is OK as is the finish.I bought these because they had a hex key option as well as the slot. What turned up however, did not. Quite frankly I cannot be bothered to go through the hassle of returning these so I will use them until I find something better. If you don't need or are not bothered by the lack of a hex key then they will do the job.

Did NOT fit an Arca mount
This was slightly too large to fit the Arca mount on my Peak Design tripod which has accepted other Arca plates. I returned it (which was easy).
