This product does suction onto a smooth surface like a fiberglass shower well, however you need to make sure that it’s firmly suctioned onto the wall before using the shower. It might even spontaneously release even after it seems to be holding a good suction if it’s on any type of tile. As an experiment, I had put it on a bathroom tiled wall in a shower/bath and then went to sleep and then in the morning I suddenly heard a big clattering and it had just released with no one in the bathroom – –it was on the floor of the bathtub. If this had happened while I was in the tub taking a shower, it really would’ve hurt my feet!We subsequently did bring it to the person we were afraid might fall in the shower, and luckily their shower was fiberglass. The grabber stayed on for two weeks without us being there or checking it, so I think if you have a fiberglass shower it will work fine.

These couldn't be easier to install - just place and flip the lever. They're not designed to support body weight, but they adhere so well that it seems they probably could. They also look decent - I'd prefer something that looks like well-designed solid plastic to a plastic something that looks like fake metal.Edited review: Every 2 months or so, they lose suction and fall off the wall. Not a deal breaker if you're able bodied, but not great if you're installing them for an older person who just wants them to "stay on the wall.."

You get these grab bars which can quickly be placed exactly where she can use them to steady herself as she enters/exits her tub and safely shower. It is important to take into account the location of your grout lines to make sure both ends of the bar land only on the smooth tile surface so suction is uniform. Must apply decent amount of external pressure to each end to maximize the suction but well within a middle aged female's solo capabilities.

Love these handles. Installed in my bath tub. Stay in place for about a month before needing to be remounted. Indicator of suction strength is wonderful. Makes me feel safe while showering. Just bought them again for my daughters house as I'm going for a visit.
