I've only used the soap a few times so perhaps I should have waited before reviewing, but I've been wet shaving for years and have used a wide variety of soaps and creams and feel like I can make a good judgement even if it's quick. I was intrigued by this soap due to the great reviews and excellent ingredients list. The soap does perform decently, but I wouldn't put it in my top 10. I loved sandalwood & vanilla, but the scent of this soap is off somehow. It's not a nice smooth sandalwood scent, but it is mild so it's not a deal breaker. I'd say the performance is good, but just not great. It lathers fairly easily and the lather was easy to control for thickness so you get nice cushioning, but the glide is just ok. The soap also seemed to take a bit more to rinse away although that is not a dealbreaker either. Given the reviews and ingredients list, I was excited to try this soap, but overall I think it's less than the sum of its parts. Unfortunately I've tried too many other top notch soaps to give this one 5 stars.

Creamy long lasting lather. Works great for Shaving 🪒 everything. I purchased the non scented version of this soap. I am used to the pucks that you can put in shaving soap bowls. This one is a softer more lushes lather that comes in a plastic tub with a screw on cap. I prefer this type of tallow shaving soap over the other types of soaps I have used.This soap, you can slightly smell the tallow because it is non scented. But it’s great! If fragrance isn’t your thing, or you don’t like some of the more many smelling options they have, this is a great choice!I do wish they offered a more feminine smelling soap though. Maybe a lavender or sage and orange would be nice.Because this is a softer soap, I am curious how long it is going to last me. So far... it’s been reasonable. The amount of lather is worth it though.

I have used Taylor of Old Bond Street, Colonel Conk's, Poraso, and Wet Shave Product soaps before, so this review is in comparison to those. I like this soap! I got the Black Tux scent, and when it arrived I opened it, smelled it, and wanted to send it back immediately - it smelled like clay mud to me. I figured I would give it a try anyway to see if the performance changed my mind about liking it, and the first few times I used it I was disappointed. BUT - after experimenting I learned that the scent improved by letting it bloom (I add hot water to the container and let it sit for a few minutes before using it) and I figured out that the soap needs more water than what I was used to using. After a few weeks of shaving with the adjustments, I really like the soap a lot now. It does give my face a tingle, which some may describe as a burning sensation (or it may be more intense for some than others), but I like it as it feels more refreshing than burning to me. Making sure to use plenty of water gives it a nice lather and it is slick enough to avoid cuts. I like it as much or more than any of the others I have used in the past, and it's a great price point. I will probably buy again, but will try a different scent - I love that there are so many scent options.

Caught it on sale, figured it would be just the regular sized tin of soap I normally travel with. Then I opened the Amazon package. I should have known better when I saw it was made in Texas, because it’s a Texas sized jar of soap. Holy schnikeys!! It’s gonna take forever to use up this jar!!Aside from that, the scent is a tad on the mild side. I was expecting to get a nose full but it’s very subtle. It’s soft soap too. Almost put my finger through it 😂. Anyways maybe the scent will get stronger as I wear the layers down. No biggy I didn’t get it to substitute for cologne.I like it so far

Okay, I have tried 5 different soaps/creams over the last few days that I've never tried. This soap hands down has the best scent. All of the other soaps pretty much smell the same (like soap). Trust me, they all smell the same from MWF to Razorock to Fine. Phoenix Gondolier is different, but the scent is not for me. (Phoenix btw, has the best after shave scents hands down IMO :-)). All 5 of the soaps I've recently tried are highly recommended. This soap has the best scent though. The problem I've run into though is my face burns after keeping it on my face for five minutes. This relates to the barbershop scent. Personally, I think they use too much scent (although I enjoy it immensely) but it causes facial burn for my particular face. My face literally felt like it was on fire. I'm guessing shaving soaps weren't really meant to have a lot of scent.Overall, if TSE keeps their prices competitive, this company will thrive once people find out about them. They are hidden because most of the time, their soap/creams aren't in the top 100. The problem I foresee is that if they get a lot of advertising, their prices will jump. It's happened with TOB soaps. It's great to experiment and compare and contrast shaving soaps, but it may put a hole in your wallet. Try them all, but make sure you add this to your shave den. I'm just not sure if the Barbershop blend just caused a reaction with my face. I do believe TSE will have to revisit their formula with the Barbershop Blend, and see why some users may be getting the burn. I do not believe it will cause everyone burn, and may be due to my sensitive skin.

I purchased this shaving puck for my husband, and honestly I love every time he puts it on. the scent is so long lasting and not at all overpowering. I have bought from this seller before and received a quality puck, so when that one went out, I knew to come back and get another. I have now purchased 3 pucks from this seller and every time, its just as amazing as I hope for. the puck is so easy to use, provides a great lather on my husbands brush. and one puck can last several months, such a money saver compared to shave gels and foams!
