AWHA Souwester, Rain Hat - Waterproof Cap with Wide Brim and Earflaps

It is made in Switzerland! It is a rain hat, not some chocolate! Sturdy, thick - not flimsy material and it has a soft and warm lining which is great for the cold rainy weather. The rain hat I have been looking for to cover my head and neck as I do not wear a rain coat. I got the black one. I would love to see a light pastel colors like blue, pink, yellow, sage. Quick delivery in time for a bad weather as I go out to see a Broadway show. One thing I don't really like is the brand name in white print on the black straps. Wish it was plain black straps.

I took this hat to Ireland and wore it in the rain. It kept me warm and dry! I love the soft warm lining, the ear flaps and chin strap to keep it on in the wind. I was the only one in our group to stay totally dry on my head! Great hat!

This hat is good looking and effective. Longer back keeps rain off hair and neck. Rain does not penetrant. Ties keep it in place. If you live in a rainy area and are serious about staying dry, this is your hat.

I have been looking at getting this hat for quite a while and when the opportunity presented itself, I took it and am very happy that I did. In terms of providing as good a review as possible, I will be listing the Pros & Cons but please note I am very happy with the hat and only dinged it 1 star for a 4 out of 5 stars rating due to the Cons...Pros:Yellow color improves visibilityCompletely WaterproofExtended Brim for complete neck rain protectionFleece Earflaps that can easily be tucked awayThe chin strap keeps the hat in place in stormy windy weatherA very light hat that is easily foldable for easy portability in various items, like pockets, bags, and backpacks, or easily stored in cars, trucks, boats, etc.Cons:The front brim could be longer, as when the weather becomes stormy and extremely windy the brim is too short to cover when rain comes down at a slanted angleThe fleece earflaps would be better if they incorporated an extended drop-down fleece back brim like some hats and golf caps have to provide additional warmth and wind protection to the back of the neck as well as it currently covers the earsA fluorescent Safetly Lime or Safety Orange colors would be more highly visible in bad weather and would be deeply appreciated to have as an optionOverall this is a very good hat that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a good storm hat.

I work outside every day, so occasionally, I have to deal with rain and sometimes snow. Other rain hats I've bought blocked my view, making it hard to see side to side. Not with this hat. I love the long brow in the back and the ear covers. The quality of this is great, too; it should last a long time.

Excellent rain hat with warm lining.

The wind and rain can blow. Buckled down you will stay dry. The style is both timeless and functional.My only complaint was the material. Yeah, I know, it’s the 21st century. Plastics. I would have preferred a good, heavy canvas duck. Doesn’t seem to be offered today so this will have to do until I can find a surplus one on the auction site.Worth the money, especially if you don’t mind the fabric.
