Pretty good metal case with included silicone pad, I'm using a slower 3x4 NVMe drives.
This works great on Windows 11, however I've had issues on MacOS Sonoma with the device disconnecting the moment I try to access it. I'm not sure what's going on. But WIndows 11 access is solid...so I'm not too concerned at this point. Heat transfers to the outer skin so the I know the silicone is working and I'm getting about 250MB/s on transfers. So that's fair considering the price point and the fact that it's a 10Gb rated device.

The adapter has a bad USB cable.
This review is for everyone who has encountered the problem of unstable connection and very slow transfer speed via USB type A (regular USB type). I am sure this problem exists with other adapters, but EVERYTHING IS OK WITH THE ADAPTER. THE PROBLEM IS ONLY IN THE CABLE! Why does the adapter come with such a lousy cable? I have a big question about this. I tried the cable from my external Crucial SSD, which is the same USB type C with an adapter for USB A, and got a speed of 600 MB/s as well as a stable connection. I read reviews about other M.2 to USB adapters and realized that other brands have the same problem and I don’t understand why they can’t solve it. I think, unfortunately, there is savings on everything now.

Worked, with some effort for transfer
worked for transferring to larger nvme, but when connected as an external, it allowed the old(2nd)nvme to go to sleep, and gave me a blue screen on windows. removed it, and no more blue screen. I guess its letting the drive fall asleep, and seeing as how its designed to be a long term external enclosure for an extra drive(not removable disk) it had issues.

Just as described
Does the job well. Really fast writing speed.

Refuses to play nice over USB-A on multiple computers with different USB chipsets
After a bunch of tinkering and being worried the issue was with my NVMe or drivers or USB hardware, it turns out it's just this thing being fussy. It seems to work fine over USB-C, but the moment that USB-A adapter goes on it gets weird. I tested this across multiple computers and here's the behaviors I observed over USB-A:1. Flat-out corrupting the drive and freezing Windows Explorer2. Appearing to connect just fine, but when you actually attempt to read/write the drive, it freezes and performance monitor shows 100% USB utilization without any actual data transfer3. Identifying to the system as a USB 2.0 device and working accordingly, but there's no point of an NVMe limited to 40 MB/s transfer speeds, now is there?Again, this seems to be exclusively a USB-A problem, and when connected to the same systems over USB-C, it works like you'd expect.I wound up getting a different enclosure and dropping my same NVMe into it and everything works the way it's supposed to now, including over USB-A on all my PCs, confirming that this enclosure was indeed the problem. I even got a replacement of this enclosure from the manufacturer and it has the same USB-A issues, so there's something flawed at the design level here as opposed to just a one-off.

Quick installation solution for SSD, solid data transfer rates, good build quality
In my line of work--which revolves around IT, music, and video production--I'm always needing to add to my storage solutions. Lately, I've been replacing my old hard drives with SSDs, and whenever possible have been looking for portable options. I had a new SSD and needed an enclosure, so when I had the chance to try out this tool-free solution, I jumped at the chance. As tool-free solution, getting a SSD chip inside was a breeze. Simply slide the pieces apart, insert the SSD chip, slide the parts together and lock them in place. I had it setup in about 30-seconds to a minute at most.Having been using this enclosure for a few months now, I'm perfectly happy with its performance as well as how it looks. Data transfer rates are solid, and I've yet to feel like it was underperforming in the slightest. I also like the design which, with its ribbed body, makes it easy to hold onto without worrying that it is going to slide out of your hands.Overall, my experience with this enclosure has been overwhelmingly positive. I will certainly keep this Phixero brand in mind when I am looking for more drives in the future.
