Well, itās kinda complicatedā¦
It is complicated - thereās eleven buttons and oodles of options to set. However, the manual is helpful and itās important to read it - maybe more than once. Written in a āquick guideā style, the manual guides you through each feature with text and useful drawings. Although, I found that it came up short of full information once, if not twice. I admit, frustration and minor confusion set in.Iām not going to get into every mode and every step of set-up, thereās just too much. I ordered this as a gift for a friend, but once I opened it and tried it, I thought sheād get too frustrated with all the setting up. She did not. In fact, after using it for a couple days, she expressed to me that, ā¦āitās kind of fun.ā I believe she has figured it out to a much deeper extent than I had and is finding valid enjoyment in its use.The feature I most liked was the wake up light that slowly brightens as time gets closer to your alarm set time. I can see this becoming more and more helpful as winter sets in and sunlight hours (if it shines at all), diminish.I most disliked the selection of wake-up alarm sounds. Thereās nine sounds. I liked one, sort of. I did like the selection of sounds for the falling asleep timer. Itās a wonderful collection of natural sounds, such as the ocean, birds singing, water in a creek etc. I only wish these sounds were swapped with the wake-up sounds, because Iād use this clock for wake-up only. Keep in mind that if the power goes out or the plug is disconnected, all these personal settings will be lost. At the base of the clock, thereās a spot to install 2 AA batteries for the purpose of backing up and retaining your settings. Also, we experienced while in snooze, pressing all eight buttons to turn the alarm off didnāt work. That only works when the alarm is sounding. The Bluetooth feature is a bonus. It was easy to connect. There is an audible voice recognizing the Bluetooth connection. The two little speakers are positioned on the back of the unit. This causes the higher frequencies to be lost or muffled. I found it helpful, when listening to music, to turn the face around and direct the speakers towards you for cleaner audio.I noticed too that the clock numbers and the feature icons look a little fuzzy. They have a haze around them, probably due to the fact they are illuminated from behind the frosted plastic of the unit.Itās packed with features and settings, for sure. Whether itās too complicated will be up to you. It really takes very little time and brain power to get this alarm clock functioning. To get it set to your personal liking, may take a bit longer.

My 5 year old loves her sunrise clock. Pretty easy to program.

So many options
This clock has so many options! You can turn on the sound. You can turn off the sound. You can turn on the light. You can turn off the light. You can have both going as well. It's nice to have options but that means you need to be sure you're setting up the right things. I don't like the shock of the alarm sound blasting first thing in the morning. I'm a fairly light sleeper so the lights slowly glowing brighter has worked really well for my needs.

It has a lot of features, but those features make it way too complicated to set up!
The media could not be loaded. Ā The good - it does have quite a selection of audio clips (fire, birds, stream, thunder, soft music) which you can use to fall asleep to, on a timer. It has a whole different selection of audio clips (birds, different alarms, upbeat instrumentals) that you can wake up to. So - a lot of options for audio. For light - there are a LOT of different light selections - not just the sun rise/sunset simulation. They have rainbows, solid red, blue, purple, one that looks kind of like a fireplace, and a lot of others that are similar. And yes, the simulated sunrise. So, the bad - there are 11 different buttons on top. Sure, you can tell which one is snooze pretty easily, and there are a few that it's somewhat clear what they are supposed to do (set the clock/time, turn on the light). But there are so many different buttons, and some buttons you use for multiple different reasons, it makes it way more complicated to figure out than it needs to be. Turning on the audio and the light is easy - figuring out how to turn it off? Not as much. And setting up the alarm, choosing the audio and light at the volume and brightness you want, how to set the sleep timer for the music and light. Ugh! And there is a full sheet, front and back of instructions! That's a good thing because there is no way I'd figure it out otherwise, but there is also that eyes-glaze-over thing that happens when there is wayyyy to much information. But - I can't really let the bad affect the rating much - too many features isn't really a downside. Sure, I'm not as young as I used to be so it takes me a bit longer to learn how to set these things up, but once I get used to it, I'll be happy! It does wake me up as promised - the light slowly getting brighter until it hits the peak and the sound starts playing at the time set for the alarm. I couldn't figure out how to turn it off initially (I hit snooze, and then a few other buttons and one of them worked). I can't imagine using the rainbow or other colored lights to wake up to - but the fire light might be cool to fall asleep with! Along with the 'crackling fire' sound effect that it also has.Overall, decent item, a bit more complicated than it needs to be, but it looks nice, does what it says, and it's a pleasant way to wake up.

Super customizable.
Got this alarm clock for my teenage son, who likes to keep his bedroom dark like a dungeon. The sunrise function is nice but I think there might be too many options. You can customize the length of time before the alarm goes off that it gets brighter, the sound that it makes, the color and design of the light, etc. I think it was a bit of overkill for him. His biggest complaint is that you need to hit all eight buttons to turn off the alarm. As someone who tries to not wake up the whole house when my alarm goes off, I can understand the frustration of trying to be more conscious than I am to turn off an alarm. But he seems to like the setting he has it at and it works. He gets up at the right time, so I canāt complain. It also has a USB port which he definitely likes.
