John Mackay: Silver King in the Gilded Age (Shepperson Series in Nevada History)

Very well-written and presented, an inspirational and educational biography of an overlooked and important figure in American history. John Mackay was one of the most American of American men of the 19th century, building a rags to riches life like no other, and all on the foundation virtues of irreproachable character, hard work, and perseverance. I would recommend this work without reservation to anyone.

Excellent, well written, right to the point, not overly verbose. You come away knowing Mackay and his time.
