An ideal pick me up!
We live close to a playing field and footpath where from time to time less disciplined people discard their litter rather than using a bin - I try and (reluctantly) clear up after them using this STV Grip 'N' Grab Picker. This STV litter picker is ideal for clearing up crisp packets, takeaway wrappers, sandwich packets and drink containers etc. This litter picker has a metal shaft with a plastic handle and a nice trigger action which flexes one of the jaws exerting a firm grip on the offending item. The jaws are sturdy too with a slight cutout and notches which allows them to grip quite weighty items including drink containers and small bottles etc. The length of the shaft is adequate for most people and will negate them stooping - a neighbour who is well over 6 feet tall uses this picker without difficulty. There's also a useful wrist-strap plus the picker hangs up easily in the garage from it.This is a domestic litter picker which is ideal for the sort of use I've described above. It's sturdy, rigid and the jaw action works well plus the proportions are just right. Recommended.

Works well!
Lightweight and a bit longer than most, the business end is nicely made and grips well. The handle is a little short for my average-sized hands, and therefore not as comfortable as it might be (and loses a star) but it's not a major problem. Probably better to buy one of these in a shop and try it out for size first. Delivery-wise, waited over a week, no show, contacted the seller who promptly sent another. When it came, they'd just taped an addressed Jiffy over the business end (leaving the remainder unwrapped). No problem, but I could see how that might've become detached on the original - to be charitable to Royal Mail!

Well made and useful
I bought this to replace a cheaper broken one which came from a large chain of DIY stores - Buy and Queue - with the simple intent of using it to pick litter (which I do have to do occasionally in my work) or to reach in to the wheelie bin for the things that my children have thrown out that they shouldn't - the teaspoons that are still in the empty yoghurt pots, driving licences and so on.In general use it is easy to operate and the trigger seems not to put to much strain on one's finger. I have found it very good at reaching into bushes to retrieve cricket balls when we play/practice in the garden and I was surprised at how well the picker was able to both grip the ball and retain it.

1.5m reach, yes if your arm measures 60cm !!!!!!!!!
I bought this item as it had the longest reach of any I could find and I need to try and remove something from a 2m void.Thinking I could reach my body in a bit and use the 1.5m of reach this has to succesfully complete the job in hand.Only to find the grabber is only 90cm long and it can reach up to 1.5m if you add on your arms length.I telephoned STV and this is what they told me.Very Misleading advertising, very disappointed.I gave it a 3 as it does appear to be quite well made.

Very good tool for a litter collection
Delivery - paid extra for named day delivery as we needed this at a specific time. Excellent process emails and texts down to driver and exact time. Would do again if it was critical.Very nice product light weight and easy to use. I used it to do a couple if hours litter picking in our village and it worked very well. The grips are accurate although note the angle of the head it does mean you need to change position if working on a slope but it's no big deal and you get used to it in a couple if minutes. You can't pick up anything too heavy (1-2kg ish) as you just can't grip it tight enough or if something is caught in a hedge/tree for example. However for 95% it works great and heavy stuff you really need to get by hand.I would buy again and recommend to anyone wanting a tool for litter collecting.

Works OK but when it said "Reaches 1. 5 ...
Works OK but when it said "Reaches 1.5 metres" I thought the picker itself was 1.5 metres long. But it is far shorter than that. It can actually reach 1.5 metres...if that includes my arm!

Wouldn't be without
The Big Cheese is the best of all the 'grabers' I think, & I've tried others. I already have one which I've had a few years before ordering two more. I just didn't want mine to break and be left without one although they seem very strong and sturdy. I use them frequently. I first needed one when my back was bad and needed to pick up my pets bowls of food & water. I found that the bowls tipped. So I undid the screws on the handle and turned the shaft a half turn so the 'jaws' were back to front. It works a treat & lifts the bowls level without any spill, and gets under dropped magazines etc. better than in the normal position. You can of course do a twist of the wrist or hold back to front but it's not as easy. I can still pick up other things too. My two new ones I have not altered. They pick up the tiniest of things with ease & very assuredly. I would not want be without them & highly recommend.

Grab a bargain
Arrived packed for the vagaries of the postal system, so was securely packed and undamaged on receipt. I bought two, one for me and one for my mother in law. One of them had the metal loop to hang it up missing, but both grabbers were in perfect working order. One word of warning - don't buy this product unless you have a reasonably long arm - removing the litter from the end of the grabber by hand requires a reach that is large! However, if you have an available receptacle for the goods on the end, this does not present a problem. The crocodile grabber will pick things up ranging from cat fur off the floor to a bag of sugar from a high shelf. If it wasn't for the abundance of wasps around the cherry tree, I'd have used it to collect the few cherries that were out of reach to my husband on a ladder - I'm sure that it would have coped admirably!

Pricey
In comparative shopping this was pricey. Was not as heavy duty as described. It works as to what it was designed for.

Ottima pinza
