So far so good. I will know if it really works when the summer night weather hits. But so far there is no night beetle or gnats waiting to enter the house with me at night.

Simply screw into an existing fixture.I don't have to keep lights on. Better for birds and insects.

While longevity is unknown at this time, as someone with a degree in electronics I can say that these things are - ahem - BRILLIANT.I have a very stupid motion & light-sensing porch fixture... They aimed the motion-sensor UP, away from where people walk, and aimed the photocell DOWN, away from the sky. As such, the motion sensor was useless. The light sensor is also pathetic - in it's position the light would come on way too early, and in the winter it often wouldn't go off until NOON. I was planning on spending the time & money to buy a new, better fixture...This bulb has negated that!! I would love to see a schematic of how it works, but as far as sensing the appropriate time to turn on/off it is perfect. Since there is no single photocell on the exterior that might not be pointed in the right direction when the bulb is screwed in all the way, there must be multiple tiny sensors on the inside of the plastic envelope. Also, there must be a filter in there somewhere that ignores the wavelengths of light produced by bulbs, and only responds to full-spectrum sunlight...Without any modifications to my defective fixture, which supplies power longer than necessary, I simply installed this bulb and as of September 1st it turns off sometime before 7:30AM and doesn't turn on before 7:50PM... PERFECT. (Of course LEDs don't use that much power, but it is still nice to see something perform as it should.)As far as the light itself, I replaced a conventional 25W bug-lite with this bulb and I'd say it is every bit the equivalent of 50-60 watts of incandescent. It is the exact amount of light I wanted, and after 10 days I'd say there are no more bugs out there than with the original 25W bulb. Sooooooo, I've cut the amount of power by 2/3, cut the time it runs down to when it SHOULD run, and have superior brightness... I estimate it'll cost about 20 cents/month to operate.

I just want to state that these bulbs are the longest lasting bulb I have ever owned, LED or not. I bought these almost 4 years ago, they are outside every night lighting up from dusk to dawn, through the harshest of summer and winter conditions in the Northeast. I am not sure what these are made of, but I have gone through a dozen inside LED lights in the time I have owned and continue to run one of these, for at least 20x time length of time on each day. They are amazing.

Great Bug Control - We live in the south. It's hot, humid, and buggy for a good portion of the year. We've had a significant improvement since putting in these bulbs a few months ago! We can just walk in the front door without swatting bugs or bringing in bugs. The last two nights we've had some swarmer termites around them, but that's the only type of bug that will come close to these bulbs. Our pest control guy said it's normal to see swarmers this time of year and they'll go away very soon. If that's the only bug we have to deal with, that's great!Color - The color of the light is more yellow than our other outdoor lights. We were initially a little bothered by the difference but quickly got over it because of the bug repellent advantage.Dusk-to-Dawn - We also love that these are dusk-to-dawn bulbs. If you don't know what these are or haven't had them before, this means you just leave the light switch on and the bulb will detect when it needs to turn on/off based on the sunlight. That's really nice for when we're out of town. We always used to forget to leave lights on for ourselves when we left during the day but came home after dark. We had regular dusk-to-dawn bulbs before these bug repellers, so we were happy to find this combination.

So I bought one of these bulbs but not the yellow lights for our front stoop. It works perfectly but BUGS! We had so many bugs that you couldn’t get into the house at night without being attacked and bringing a few in. Found this light by the same company and it WORKS! It looks like the same light - the bulb is white during the day but once night comes and it turns on, yellow! We live in central NYS and no issues with the cold so I’m expecting this to be the same quality. Definitely a keeper!!

My favorite bug light bulb yet. I may give these as stocking stuffers to my kids. I thought it would look yellow when I opened the box, but it appeared white. I installed the bulb and sat with my chair waiting patiently for the sun to go down. I popped the cork on my champagne once dusk hit as it turned on to a soothing yellow which bugs had no interest in. I recommend.
