I usually expect some chemical or adhesive smell from manufactured furniture like this but it was really strong and the material made my hands itch. I don’t really want my cat laying on it every day and breathing in whatever chemicals are gassing off. I didn’t assemble it, I started taking it out of the box and decided it wasn’t a good fit for our household. The round perch is way too small for my 9lb cat. The particle board is nice and thick, seems like it would be sturdy. Be aware that every bit of hardware required to assemble this, needs to be installed yourself. They’ve pre-drilled holes in the wood and all of the hardware is in a bag. I like assembling furniture and this seems time consuming to me; That’s not the reason I’m returning, just feel it’s worth sharing. Refund is through the seller, not Amazon so I’ve been offered 2/3 of what I paid and I have to pay for shipping. This thing weighs 60+lbs so it’s not gonna be cheap. I may just try to find someone who wants it. Wish I read the specs more closely before ordering : /

It looks very nice and my cat likes it. Even with that being said I personally wish that I had choosen a different cat tree w/litterbox. The struggle of putting this thing together was horrible. It came with only picture instructions. And even those were not the best at all. No written descriptions at all. I could not figure out how to install the doors and am now having someone come out to simply install that.
