Shockingly Sweet
I read this book in less than 48 hours. It was a fun, easy read. The twists were entertaining while not being confusing. I love the ending. The characters were so likeable, especially Roman. But Ruby's marriage had me almost envious, and I certainly felt her husband's demise. Great story for people interested in this sort of thing while being new to/nervous about the genre.

Great debut!
Well, that was a first! A clever, funny, and likable serial killer!Ruby is a psychologist. She's intelligent and funny. Ruby is also a serial killer. She is guilty of three murders, but not four.As the book begins, Ruby is being interrogated by a police officer. He is accusing her of murder. As the story unfolds, Ruby weaves a story of how she has killed in the past but is not guilty of the murder that she is accused of.This story was a wild ride! It kept me engaged from the first page. I truly could not predict what was going to happen, and that is a good thing!Highly recommend! Four stars!

intriguing
Right away from the beginning it pulled me in. It’s an intriguing story with a unique, flawed but like-able main character.

It’s fine
I ordered this novel for a mindless summer read and it mostly worked. Got through it in a few days and it was a page turner at times. My issue is I’m supposed to sympathize with the main character who killed a seven year old kid? (That’s not a spoiler—it’s the very first thing to happen in the book.) And a couple others too. Yeah I don’t think so. I don’t mind damaged protagonists but that is a bridge too far.

THIS WAS SO GOOD
uby is a successful therapist. Ruby is happily married to Jason. Ruby is also a murderer. Here's the thing though: She is NOT a sociopath. Not at all. The people she *ahem* killed were all deserving of their fates. She just helped to tip the scales. Her husband Jason has Type 1 diabetes and suffers an untimely death while sleeping by Ruby's side. Her world is turned upside down and she's utterly devastated but even more so when a detective comes knocking accusing her of his murder. Not only that but he seems to know a lot about Ruby's past and the fact that she has been conveniently present at three other deaths over the course of her lifetime. What are the chances of that happening? You'll have to read this to find out. What a hoot Ruby is with her Type A personality. I loved her humor and I think that is going to be a huge factor in whether or not you enjoy this book.

Keeps getting better as it goes along
This was one of the most satisfying and engaging books I've read in a good while. It's especially impressive as a debut novel.I started this book thinking "this is OK, reads well, moves along" and then it started getting more interesting, with ripples from events or relationships extending and interacting in unexpected ways. I really appreciated the character development, particularly that of some of the minor characters. They weren't just cardboard cutouts. The author was able to build the tension because the outcome was never certain. The plot twists were feasible enough to be enjoyable because they were skillfully deployed. And I especially appreciated that all the loose ends were accounted for in the end. It was a clear conclusion, roll the credits.I enjoyed it a lot and look forward to her next novel, which I hope will come soon.

Is she a good person, or bad?
I read this book very quickly. It was engaging and kept my interest. I kept going back and forth as I read, thinking, was Ruby a good person or a bad person? In the end, it answers it, but you have to read this book to find your answer.I liked it. It was briefly slow a couple a areas, but NOT bad. My thirst to know this character pushed me through. I am into psychology and this is a good book if you are like me and are interested in the psychological sides of people and why they do them.Yes, this is a good book. Give it a go!

Solid and enjoyable read!
I really liked the premise of this book and the way the author disclosed crucial information at just the right time. The flashback scenes were effective in bringing everything together as well. There were a couple of issues, however. I'm a huge fan of dialogue, both reading and writing it. It helps with character development and also assists in moving the story along. But the author rarely used it. Because of this fact, I felt like the author was mostly telling...as opposed to showing. Also, the ending could have been stronger, but it was still a solid and enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it to mystery/crime readers.

Original and compelling
My mother-in-law recommended this book to me and I couldn't put it down. A wonderfully relatable murderer who you end up rooting for and a setting (Miami) so well described it was almost a character itself (I'm in the UK, never been, feel like I've holidayed there now). I loved the plot, the narrative and the accurate insights into narcissism and deep love for pets. The title and cover image are very clever too. Would definitely read more books by this author!

Page turner
Very enjoyable. I liked the first person storytelling . Felt connected to the main character with her thought process and emotions. Not too much angst, maybe too neat finish but why not...

Blood Sugar
I love a serial killer thriller and if the killer is a female then it’s even better, in my opinion. Blood Sugar is the debut novel by Sascha Rothchild and it’s absolutely wonderful. If you like feisty females who don’t mind killing the odd person here and there purely because she could, then you will love Ruby, our brilliant narrator. She’s in a little pickle right now as she’s being investigated for 4 murders, the evidence is stacked against her, she had motive and cause to murder them all except for one little fact – whilst she did actually kill 3 of them, it’s the fourth murder she is ironically innocent of committing.Ruby has a wonderful unique take on life (literally) and the story flits back and forth to her childhood when she committed her first murder at the age of 6 to her in present day, a compassionate and successful therapist.Blood Sugar ticks all the boxes for me personally. A clever and twisty plotline, a female serial killer with a very dry sense of humour, fascinating characters and plenty of shocks and surprises.Grab yourself a copy and thank me later.⭐⭐⭐⭐
