At Home at Highclere: Entertaining at the Real Downton Abbey

When visiting Highclere Castle in 2012, we remarked of what a shame it was to not have a good quality book of the interior of the castle available for purchase. Photos were not allowed inside the Castle, so taking home a book featuring these elaborate rooms was surely missed.WELL, my wish came true! Here it us! This amazing book not only highlights the fabulous interior rooms of Highclere, but also tells the family's history wonderfully detailed by The Countess. It features recipes that look delicious and appealing from the kitchen at Highclere.I am so pleased to have this wonderful book in my collection!

Last Saturday, I spent the day at Highclere and was spell bound in this lovely castle and it’s grounds. This book has filled in all the gaps that I had missed while touring inside and out. The rich history, purpose, and events in this book are unparalleled. History comes alive and is delightfully accompanied with wonderful recipes to complete our journey. We look forward to coming back again. I’d like to visit Highclere in the other three seasons. How exciting! Can’t wait. In appreciation to Lady Carnarvon!

Full of beautiful photos , interesting facts and best of recipes in sections such as Breakfast, Fish and shellfish, Meat game and fowl, Veggies soups and savouries, Afternoon tea and Sweet things! There are chapters about individual rooms and staff. It is a10x12 inch book and a little heavy but oh so worth it! Consoider getting the soft back rather than the hard back copy.

This book is fabulous! Wonderful photographs with all the pages of heavy paper one would expect in this type of book. I bought this book because I love the Downton Abbey series set at Highclere Castle. I wish they had shown their personal kitchen and the vegetable gardens.

A beautiful book! I love architecture and history so I enjoyed the photos of the rooms and old photos and stories of the Carnarvon family! The current Lady Carnarvon is a good writer. I bought this for a gift but I like it so much I'm going to order one for me.

Bought for my mother-in-law for Christmas. Is a nice big book, has beautiful pictures. Content is a little lacking.

This was a birthday gift for a Downton Abbey fan (as am I). It is a lovely 'coffee table' type of book with photos, stories, and recipes included. My friend was greatly pleased and is going to buy a copy to give to a friend of hers, also. I am very well satisfied!

I was barely able to catch my breath when I opened up this gorgeous book. Wow. What a treat ~ photos, stories & recipes galore. I am going to have so much fun trying these recipes out for my monthly ladies' group. :)

Rather a curious book, it has lovely stories about the people who have visited, along with some beautiful photos of the house itself, and it also has a variety of recipes in, which I was not expecting but was a nice surprise. Personally, I was hoping for more background about the house, but overall a nice book
