Decorative Teapot
Well, this 'Charbrew' cast iron teapot certainly does stand out from the crowd, especially with its black and gold decor, which highlights its classic teapot/kettle shape perfectly. The product is listed as previously mentioned, a teapot and kettle, although we have so far only used it as a teapot, mainly because we do not want to place the pot directly on a gas hob, just to avoid any potential detrimental effect on the decor (the gold paint on the outer surface).

Photos do not do it's beauty justice!
The beauty of this cast iron tea kettle surpasses its appearance in the product images. The handle appears to be constructed of steel, and the base and lid are both composed of cast iron. The pot's outside is highlighted with copper paint, giving the impression that it was hand painted, while the inside and lid are both covered in a black enamel finish. It can store enough water for three mugs or four cups (900 ml). While it is possible to boil water in the pot, I do not advise doing so for everyday usage as the water will spew out when it reaches a boil.I just use it like any other teapot, making careful to preheat it first. The ability of cast iron to hold heat effectively means that the tea in this pot should keep hot for a good while without the need for a tea cosy. I adore the roomy, integrated infuser since it allows you to effortlessly remove the rehydrated tea leaves after use.Overall a well made and beautiful looking teapot and reasonably priced too.

Very Impressed!
I have to admit that I was a bit sceptical about this tea pot at first. It looks beautiful, it's a good weight, and is nice and solid... but can it make a decent cuppa? Given how reasonably-priced it is (especially compared to those sold in specialist tea emporia), I had my doubts. However, the short answer is that yes it most definitely can make a wonderful pot of tea. Huzzah! And not only that, the spout doesn't drip. Huzzah again! The teapot that came with the cup and saucer in my photos is delightful but the spout is rather dribbly, so it can make a bit of a mess if I'm not careful. Not so this Charbrew teapot. It pours beautifully. Every. Single. Time. The design is pretty fab... if I were the gushing sort, I might say that it's a harmonious blend of traditional elegance and modern flair. Since that sounds terribly cheesy, I shall just say that it looks very nice. Stiff British upper lip, an' all that!Because the pot is made from cast iron, it's very durable (unless dropped onto a hard floor from a great height. Don't ask me how I know about such things but suffice it to say that I am missing the skillet from my le Creuset set. Ouch!). And once warmed through, it retains heat longer than its china or porcelain counterparts.I was also a bit hesitant about the infuser - my first impression was that it was made from very lightweight mesh, and might therefore be pretty flimsy. So far, however, it's performed admirably. I especially like that the rim stays cool enough to handle, so once my tea has brewed, I can easily lift the diffuser out and set it aside, without burning my fingers. (Time for another huzzah, methinks!)Because of the diffuser and the teapot's thermal properties, it means I can have 2-3 cuppas without my tea becoming stewed or lukewarm.Did I mention that the handle stays cool, too?!My only regret is that I did not get one of these teapots sooner. This isn't just a functional utensil, it's a work of art that brings joy to every cuppa. (And there I go, gushing again!).
