Design Motifs of Ancient Mexico (Dover Pictorial Archive)

I bought this book searching for tattoo ideas and now I cant decide what I want to get. What I like about this book is that each design has a number and at the bottom of the page it tells you where it was found in Mexico. I shared this book with my father who is from Mexico City and he was on point with the locations most of the designs are from. He was very surprise also. We love the book. I'm thinking about buying it for my friend who is a tattoo artist.

Wonderful design reference source. Many well-presented motifs.

Lots and lots of design examples to chose from. Very interesting designs from all locations of Mexico and from different time periods. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is I guess I am lazy and would have wanted ideas as to how to use the design, examples ie: apply onto a piece of clothing to embroider, or use as a template for stenciling onto a pot, or as a border around a wall. Really a 'must have book' for anyone's collection.

Christmas present that was very well recieved.The artist was delighted, and said it would be very helpful for her ethnic design creations.

Definitely worth the price. Plenty of usable motifs, ideal for stencil making, collage, printing and general design work. Highly recommended.

there is very little out there about the american cultures art motives... It is of great inspiration for my designs
