Not great for surf fishing reels
Well made, absolutely sticks to the car without damaging the paint but not great for the bulky gear associated with surf fishing.I believe these are made for fly fishing gear and would be perfect for that purposeI found a way to carry my rods using them by leaving the sunroof open and the reels positioned to hang downI would really like to see the mfg make a taller version

Wish I bought it sooner.
Since I got rid of my pick up I needed another way to transport my 12 ft surf poles. Instead of getting roof racks for my SUV and my car, I decided to give this a try based on reviews. Also the fact that I could quickly and easily use this on diffrent vehicles if I needed too.I know this is better suited for the average fishing pole, more geared toward the smaller freshwater pole and reel compared larget surf poles reels. I was able to use it on the hood and roof of the car. I decided not too, only becuase this time of year with shoe traffic tourism it is not uncommon to get pulled over. Thought it best to avoid the hassle of possibly being pulled over for "obstruction of view".In the picture I have two 12 ft poles and one 7"4 pole. I was choose to take the reels off for the first trip since they are very expensive, and also I was a little weary of how well the magnets would hold.On the way home I drove across a long (very) windy bridge connecting the island to the main land. I decided to hit the highway to see how the rack dod on the highway at 65mph.On the way out I was nervous. Especially since this was not not a short slow drive. Wasnt going fishing at a local lake with ultra light or fly rods.Had the sun roof open and watched the poles/rack incase I had to reach up to grab them or pull over. Not really one to write revies. However I feel I pushed the rack to its limits and it performed flawlessly. Would reccomend and would buy again.A word of caution for those with hatchbacks. (Pictured attached) Be careful opening the hatch if the poles are on top of the roof. I almost broke the eyelet off of my surf pole. The 7ft pole would have been fine. Either take poles off before opening hatch or have poles hang over the front of car.

Great Product for traveling with Fly Rods
I purchased this product after breaking two high end rods in the back of my pickup. I have placed them as shown in the photograph. Although the manufacturer says not to use them over 55mph, I tried them with rods in place after applying a backup string to the bumper and windshield wiper. I had no issues or slippage going 65 with either holder. However, you are warned, and should not hold the manufacturer responsible if you have issues. The racks come on and off easily. However, apply and remove them by tilting instead of pulling straight up. I had no paint issues. I also found the rods stayed in place perfectly after applying the elastic bungie cord holders over rods.Depending on the height of your pickup, the inside top bungie cord may require you to stand on the sideboard. However, they are very easy to use on cars.So far, I have been very pleased with the product and would purchase it again. Maybe that is the best aspect of any review.

Seems to be a nice product.
I got excited when I received this item. This seems to be a good product. The magnet is strong and the material is sturdy but flexible. The bungee cord is also strong. You have to be careful when putting this on your car’s roof because it feels like it will cause a dent as the magnet has a strong pull. I haven’t driven it with fishing rods yet but I don’t think it will fly away. The only potential problem I anticipate is the rubber cap on the magnet disintegrating. For the price it would be nice if it comes with spare rubber caps. I mounted it on my truck and tried an 11 ft fishing rod. I will be carrying 4 rods. Well see how this will hold over time. 5 ***** for now.Update after a year. It’s going strong. Holds very well at 60-65 mph. I don’t leave on the roof of my car for 2 reasons, first, it can get stolen and second, too much sun may damage the rubber. Will buy a second set.

4 -12' poles on roof of truck of truck going 75mph on interstate, so far so good!!!!
Was a little skeptical at first but they work great.Running 4-12' poles only using 1 suction cup setup, 1 triple magnet, and 1 double magnet on top of Toyota tundra crew cab pickup. Was running 75mph on interstate with no problem at all, very impressive.
