after all these years of witnessing horrible events unfold
As other readers mentioned previously, this book is quite self-served. However, it does shine a light on the some details and stories that I had read from a other authors. It's an interesting book and compliment to a few other books If you take the "I told them so" and "I knew it" factor out of the overall story. Also, what's interestingly ironic is that, his incessant self-praise and taking pride in being able to predict some events and behaviors, has actually worked against him in this book and led me to disliking him. Mainly because there is a regretful tone to his book with the "I told you so" attitude. To me taking such a stance now, after all these years of witnessing horrible events unfold, seems unproductive and hypocritical as he is one of the people who wanted "change", fought for it, and helped make it happen as he had a key role in instigating the revolution. But instead of utilizing his power and that platform to make productive and substantial changes during the regime's initial transition, he held on to his ego-driven role.

The horse's mouth
It would require a knowledge of farsi and a great deal of time spent searching the archives of the Islamic Republic of Iran to verify much of what President Bani-Sadr asserts in this book. However it has the virtue of corresponding to facts and realities regarding American and Israeli involvement in the Persian Gulf War (aka the Iran-Iraq war) which are difficult to explain in any other way. Some of the details may not be exactly correct, and Bani-Sadr may be a more fallible and opportunistic character in reality than is the self-portrait presented in this book, but this is an important testimony from one of the best-placed eyewitnesses to a successfully buried political scandal of immense proportions.Had that scandal been exposed in all of its ramifications in time, the second and third Persian Gulf wars (aka Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Fiefdom - er, Freedom) may have been avoided, given that these wars were also schemes engineered by the same infernal alliance of Zionists, Islamists and Big Oil that brought about the first Persian Gulf War.

Nach all der Hetze im Netz habe ich mich entschlossen, vor den Büchern zu warnen, bei denen Verschwörungstheorien, Hetze oder Antisemitismus andere, möglicherweise interessante Aspekte des Buches überlagern.
