Messy but it works
Using any grease gun is an inherently messy enterprise and there is a learning curve involved. I think many of the negative reviews reflect that fact rather than the quality of the product itself. This grease gun is well constructed out of mostly aluminum making it lightweight yet it is plenty sturdy and doesn't feel cheap. The 12" hose extension makes this easy to get into tight spaces. I used this gun to lube my John Deere tractor front axle and mower spindles and it performed well.I would recommend not following the directions in terms of removing foil completely from the grease tubes and only screwing the barrel into the head of the gun loosely when you first pump the gun to get the grease flowing. I did this and grease squirted out everywhere, making a huge mess and costing me a tube of grease. Instead, I recommend making a medium sized hole in the foil and almost fully screwing the barrel into the head of the gun with the plunger locked back in the "removed" position. Then, run the plunger into the tube while pumping the trigger to get the grease flowing.A previous reviewer is correct that the plunger usually goes right through the grease tube's plastic end cap intended to push the grease out and ends up just pushing the grease directly. I didn't have a problem with this as the gun was still able to produce enough pressure to push the grease out, but I can see how this might be frustrating.

Works
Good value and works well with 3 oz cartridges. Use for greasing lawn mower which has zerk fittings. A bit hard to remove after lubing - trick is to pull off at a slight angle. Seems well made to last many years.

Plunger Leaks
Whenever I put a tube of grease in, the grease all pushes up around the plunger and ends up around the spring.

Great gun and Superior Customer Service
Bought this in 2019, it is now 2024 and having issues with the gun leaking grease. Contacted Carbyne and WITHOUT HESITATION they are replacing the unit. Great grease gun and OUTSTANDING support. This is hard to find in these days; but Carbyne is great. I will continue to buy from them; and I do not hesitate recommending them.... THANK YOU CARBYNE

Issues with plunger seal but till worth 5 stars for great service
I use this gun once every 6 months. Worked great the first time when I went back to use it months later the plunger seal did not work and grease flowed around with just the spring pressure. I contacted the seller and right away Jacob was willing to replace the gun as defective. Even with issues I'm giving a 5 star rating simply because good customer service is VERY hard to find these days. I'm an older guy and products just aren't made like they used to be. To have a company stand behind their product as in this case is worth a 5 star rating to me.

Pushes grease past the seal
I don’t know if the seal is on backwards or not. But it doesn’t work. All the grease pushes past the seal and makes a mess. I got it cleaned up and sent a pic to Carbyne. I’ll see if they respond and post back. Jacob from Carbyne responded right away and is sending me a replacement. Great customer service!

Only used it three times and now rubber seal inside not holding grease pressure.
Nice size and when first got it seemed well made. I have had it two years and used it about three times, but now the rubber seel at the end of the spring that compresses the grease has faild so grease just flows past it and fills up the spring side. I have not had a grease gun that has failed so soon.

It is a nice grease gun (the best I own so far)
Pleasantly surprised. Nicely made. I was concern that aluminum barrel will be so tin that I will dent it, but it will likely be my fault if I do as it is reasonably heavy, considering what is on the market today.Nice feature for hose or tube with grease nipple fitting. Since I own about 5 grease guns with different lubricants for my work I also attached both the hose and a tube. I put a female cap on the tube and use the hose for greasing, put the cap on the hose if I would like to use rigid tube put the fitting on it or I use a a needle fitting.I also read a lot of folks have a problem removing fitting from grease nipple (zerk). Please do not blame grease gun or fitting, there is a correct way to use it. The fitting actually comes in two parts, although manufacturer screw it together so tightly that it is hard to take a part. Take a grease fitting (which screws onto the gun) put the hex nut into the vise or wrench (sometimes the hex is not there just two parallel grooves) then use those. Now look at the fitting and you will see knurled surface. unscrew this knurled part of the fitting couple of turns and your problem of removing fitting from the Zerk is solved. I usually leave my loose. If it is too loose on the Zerk then tighten it a bit. If you need to use both hands on the grease gun, snug the knurled fitting by hand only and it will not come off. When you done greasing turn (loosen) the knurled fitting and it just pops off.I took a picture but for some reason this website doe not take it. I will try again as during my research I could not believe there is so many complaints about this simple issue.I also ordered HORUSDY Mini Pistol Grip Grease Gun, with 3 OZ. Cartridge Flexi Hose & Coupler (2900 PSI) but it is not here yet.Cheers

Sticks on the grease nipple
Once it is on the grease nipple it is difficult to remove. That being said very well made and value for money
