Reprint of Edwin H Rennolds' A History of the Henry County Command Welcome & Eye Opening
I recently discovered an historical reprint of Edwin Hansford Rennolds' "A History of the Henry County Command. . ." was available on Amazon when one of his great grandsons asked me to find a used copy. Not only was Amazon's reprint "new" rather than "used" but a definite bargain when compared with the over $2,000 asking price for a 1st edition. Rennolds' great grandson and I were amazed at the thoroughness of this book written almost 110 years ago but still some 40 years after the fact. I always check Amazon first!

Great Research Book
Excellent reference book for researching Confederate soldiers from Henry County, Tennessee, who fought during the Civil War. A "must have" book.

An invaluable account
This neglected book is a must read for anyone interested in the Southern War of Independence. Henry County was founded by sons and daughters of the American Revolution. Lt. Rennolds calls it the Volunteer County of the Volunteer State. Near the Kentucky border, Henry County contributed more Confederate combatants than any other county in Tennessee. Rennolds finished this compelling history of Henry County's Confederate forces forty years after the war when many of the veterans and support staff were still alive. These men fought even when they knew the odds were against them. This is an antidote to the horrible crimes against history so common today in throw-away American culture. These men fought for their homes and families. Slavery is not even mentioned here. There is a chapter dedicated to the support staff, the cooks, most of whom were enslaved, one of whom was a freedman. Read Lt. Rennolds and connect with the humanity of the South. There is no copyright on this material and many facsimile editions are out there. This one does a creditable job of reproducing the original art and it is legible.
