Levine has all the scholarly chops to produce a commentary that is backed by the best recent research. This is that, but it is written for people who want to encounter the stories and think hard about what they meant then and might still mean now. And she has a wonderful sense of humor!

Great content but cheap low quality binding and paper

I'd buy anything AJ writes. She's thoughtful, incisive, playful [Jacob of Genesis fame would be sooo proud]. Only complaint about this volume: It's too short. I want more....

The author is very knowledgeable and adds her humor into thoughts. Well worth reading

This book is phenomenal.As a minister, it brings wonderful insights to the texts as well as critical work towards antisemitism.

As a Christian minister who has studied the New Testament for more than 40 years, I found Levine’s exploration of the Gospel According to Mark to be a very satisfying addition to my collection of study sources. She brings a wide breadth of knowledge to the study. And she adds a charming sense of humor in the process. And, for me, it was a definite benefit that she offers a good balance of explanations and questions. After all this time, my understanding of Mark was enriched.

This was informative and fun. We had good discussions.

I love the fresh ideas in this book and video companion piece. It will give fresh ideas to experienced Bible study leaders and newcomers alike. This author’s books are always written for a wide audience. Her insights into Jesus the Jew deepen any Christian’s commitment to studying and following Jesus.
