I was looking for a decoration, and that's what I got. If you happen to be the only online shopper in the world looking for an actual functional lantern, plan on spending more. I wanted something that would look pretty and not burn the house down for the one or two times a year I actually light a candle in it.This lantern is beg enough to hold most medium-size decorative candles. The construction is flimsy and the door hinges operate a bit rough, but these were all expected for a purely decorative piece. Again, if you are planning to do anything other than hang it from somewhere to add a certain look to a room, look elsewhere. It is also unlikely to hold up well to long-term moisture exposure, so keep that in mind if you plan to keep it outside. If you plan on hanging it from a chain or string with a heavy candle inside you will need to balance the candle to ensure it hangs level and the candle burns evenly.If you have any questions, leave a comment!

Medium quality lantern. A bit off where the edges meet.

I used this lantern with my already-owned LED candle for my centerpiece on my dining room table for Christmas Dinner. But, I am planning on incorporating it in my shabby-chic great-room decor for everyday use.The lantern was well made, stylish, delicate, and just the right size. I never put real candles in my lanterns, so I can't say how it would hold up or work with a flamed candle. But for the usually 3" diameter LED candles it was perfect. My candles have a remote control so I was able to just leave my candle in the lantern without opening and closing the door, but the door for access to place candles in lantern felt sturdy and worked easily and well.The white color lent a nice delicate look to the lantern and the victorn style actually allows it to span multiple decorating genres.Compared to tons of candles I looked at in stores over the pre-Christmas season, I was very impressed and totally pleased with this particular decorative lantern. Order without worry about the quality and workmanship. It was A-#1 in my book.

Mine arrived fully assembled, no glass to insert separately. It was well packaged, cushioned inside and out to keep the glass safe.Upon unwrapping it, I noticed a small spot, maybe 1/4" in diameter, where no paint had been applied, so the bare, dark metal showed through. No big deal, right? Adds to the shabby-chic look. But on closer inspection, I saw that some larger areas, apparently also missed in the first pass, had been sloppily touched up with paint that was a different color—more cream than white—and semigloss, whereas the main paint color was flat and very close to white.Finish aside, the lantern is a good size and seems sturdy. The seams and folds are reasonably tight and straight. It's pretty to look at from across the room, and it looks very nice lit, even with a cheap battery-powered mini tealight.When I have a chance, I will remove the glass, lightly sand down the second paint (it's also lumpy, for crying out loud), and spray the whole thing with matte white spray paint, which I bought for this purpose. Including the $6.35 I spent for the paint, I'd consider this overpriced, especially considering the aggravation and time it has cost and will cost me.

My fiancee wanted to read by candlelight at night and I wanted her candle enclosed for safety. This has worked perfectly for what we needed it for.

I am using this lantern as the table center piece for my daughters wedding. I added some Spanish moss and a few flowers around the outside and it looks great. I will be adding an electric candle to the middle.

I filled this with seashells and fairy lights and put it in my "beachy" bathroom and it looks perfect. It could be used with just a candle, artificial flowers, decorative soaps, or many other things.

Great for what I wanted as a decor piece on my fireplace mantel. I wouldn't recommend it to outdoor use unless you plan to take it in on rainy days. In my option I don't think it would hold up to well to weathering.

True to the color, shipment wasn't late, and will work great for my wedding.
