Major Kudos for the author
First off I have to admit I started reading a later book in the series but it was a little confusing (at least to me) not knowing the back story. So I did what any and probably all readers do, I want back to the beginning. I'm so glad I did. Now I know what's going on, who the main charaters are etc. Not only did the author do a great job creating a back story she did it while the MC was in the middle of murder mystery. I read this first book in 2 days, can't wait to keep reading more. The story never dragged things kept moving at a good pace without confusing you and it was a really good story with some fun twists in it. I don't want to spoil it for anyone else so let me just say this is a great series starter and I'm looking forward to the rest of her books. If you're undecided--Read it you won't be disappointed.

Carlee's adventure
I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. This "adventure" into the macab world of murder and mayhem was a good first effort. The storyline gave us a little twist at the beginning by explaining the difficult past of our leading PI, Carlee. The setting is very conducive for a murder mystery. It gives a sense of realism to the story without over using it to pad the pages. As Carlee navigates her past into her future, we are given an open book that the author fills nicely. The pace of the story is very good. The characters are enticing and believable. I especially enjoyed the addition of Ian, FBI and resident hottie, Mr Hollywood. I'm looking forward to the next installment to see if this pair join forces to stop a madman. I also liked the psychological aspects of the characters as they are woven into the story. This is a modern who done it with lots of surprises. Please read and enjoy!

Good story but..
I liked the storyline. I liked the the characters. What I didn't like is all the unnecessary use of profanity! It completely ruined the story for me to the point that I don't want to continue the series. Disappointed!

Great debut
Carlee Knight is a character easy to engage with. Empathy, pity, sympathy? All the above? I don't know. I like her grit, her determination to live life on her terms, even with that monkey on her back. She has excellent investigative skills, and a willingness to closs her cases, no matter what. Well plotted with unexpected twists and shatters. Thank you, Katy for another great character plucked from that great imagination of your's. And thank you to your semi-secret collaborator with this series.

Great Start to New Series
This was my first book by Katy Pierce and the first book in the Harborside Series. I wasn't sure what to expect but was surprised at how drawn in I was.I'm on the fence with Carlee and her tactics, but I liked the secondary characters (Ian, Elenore). There was a lot of action, a few murders, some twists/turns, a serial killer, and I liked how the past was tied in with the present.I will say this is a series, so don't expect all the answers in this book. You will need to read the next in the series, which I am about to do.#Carlee #Ian #SerialKiller #Murder #KindleUnlimted

good book
This book has a good pace. The characters and storyline is very good. I’m not a fan of the f bombs. Other than that it’s a good book full of suspense and violence.

Very good!
I thought the little tidbit of information given out at the beginning may have jeopardized the plot. I was wrong. Very wrong. It caught my attention in a way that I had to read it to see if I was right.Very intriguing, pretty fast paced and Carlee is very likable. Looking forward to new book just released.
