Sleek and modern mate cup.
The GAUCHO-MARKET Yerba Mate cup and 2-bombilla set is as described on the product page.LIKES:Made from borosilicate glass, not plastic.Borosilicate glass is easier to clean than a gourd.Double-walled glass provides thermal insulation but allows you to see the contents of the glass.Contrasting jade/green color of the interior glass.Includes TWO different types of bombillas/metal straws, one traditional (has one end shaped like a spoon) and the other one modern, ends more like regular straws.Includes a cleaning brush.ON THE FENCE:8 oz capacity, it’s just large enough but could use a couple more oz.While I like the borosilicate glass, it does require more careful handling than a traditional gourd.DISLIKES:The included cleaning brush does not fit into the modern-style bombilla.VERDICT: if Star Trek wanted to show the crew drinking mate in the future, they could very well pick this GAUCHO-MARKET double-walled mate cup. Well-made, good-looking, and easy to clean, it's a great alternative to the traditional mate gourd. For me, I would like one size up, maybe 10oz or 12oz capacity. It's a bummer that the included cleaning brush only fits in the traditional bombilla straw and does not fit into the modern-shaped bombilla straw.

Decent
This was my first time using the traditional Yerba cup. The product does what it’s supposed, but I wish it were easier to drink from once the leaves are in there. This is quite possibly user error, of course. Good for the price though

Good Cup, Mediocre Bombilla
A decent product overall, but the bombilla could use some rethinking. The cup's insulation and borosilicate glass construction do as they are supposed to, and insulate your hands from the heat very well. It is a nicely minimalist piece, and the only potential issue I can see in terms of durability is that the bottom of the exterior glass is audibly thinner than the rest of the glass when tapped, but so far I have had no issues with cracking or breakage. The bombilla however is of a design that counts on a tightly crimped end to filter leaves, rather than a mesh or grating like on some other bombillas. This unfortunately still allows some leaves through, as all that has to happen is for a leave to align itself parallel with the crimped end and it will slip through the gap. Still a good product overall, the glass is quite nice and only a small amount of leaves got through, though if you plan on using frequently I would suggest either a set with a different bombilla design, or simply purchasing a separate bombilla.

Some instructions would have been appreciated, but it works great
I really love this. I live in the States but work with a lot of people from Argentina, who are always drinking Mate. So, I sought out a cup so they could teach me about it and we could share a cultural swap. I really loved the look of this one and it looks just as good in person. The glass and straws themselves are beautiful and well made and now that I know what I'm doing (my coworkers taught me), I love using it.Here is my problem - if you don't know how to properly prepare Mate, this product doesn't teach you. It has a blurb about the culture sure....but no instructions. So you have to seek it out yourself, which not everyone will do.

Do you even YERBA MATE?
I found this little cup while looking for a double walled cup to use for my morning coffee. I've had some issues in the past with breaking mug handles and I thought perhaps a handle-free mug would better suit me. Initially I didn't realize this wasn't a coffee mug (at least not specifically), but that didn't sway me from ordering. After receiving the cup from Amazon I unboxed it, hand-washed it (super easy), and gave it a try. As a mug, and it's pretty good. It fits nicely in the hand and worked well as a coffee cup, but in the end I don't think it is quite large enough for me to stop looking. On the other hand, I have a new thing to try and that's pretty exciting. I mean I've *had* yerba mate before, but I've never prepared it myself, so yay for an opportunity to try new things! On the PRO side, it's really a beautiful piece of glassware. If I were an experienced mate drinker I might have a more informed opinion here, but the best I can say is that because it comes with the yerba mate accessory pieces (the "bombilla straws") it appears to be a perfect setup. Also, because it's made out of borosilicate glass, it should be pretty sturdy - I gave it a 5-star rating on that based on how it felt while washing and using it - it did not feel delicate despite being very lightweight.I included a few photos: The first show the original box, the second is the unboxed contents, and the 3rd is to show the printed logo on the bottom of the cup (which I mention mostly because I know the aesthetic of it could be annoying to the more particular). It is a pretty piece and I would not object to a set of 2 or 4 to have in the drinkware collection. I wish I knew more about how to use the accessory pieces that came with it, but I guess I'll figure that out when I explore yerba mate, eh?The only CONs I can really think of is probably the 8oz size (which isn't really fair since my understanding is that yerba mate isn't served by the gallon!). I guess you could also count the printing mentioned in the paragraph above, but it didn't bother me.In all, not a bad find and I'm happy with it. If I ever use it for its intended purpose (yerba mate), I'll update this review accordingly.
