The plastic composition of the spoons, though, does raise some concerns about their longevity. This review is for the OXO Good Grips Everyday Kitchen Utensils (20 Piece Set, Silver). I received a free taxable sample of this set to review in my search for kitchen utensil sets that included silicone-tipped cooking tools.The set arrived in a branded and decorated box with each item individually wrapped in transparent plastic bags and sectioned off with cardboard dividers. The set is ready to gift in the box with a bow, wrapped in giftwrap, or placed in a gift bag.There are 20 pieces to this set which includes the stainless-steel utensil holder and for which the individual measuring spoons and cups are counted as separate items. The set can be loosely categorized as: wooden utensils (spoon, slotted spoon, turner); silicone cooking utensils (ladle, turner, tongs); food prep (peeler, garlic press, grater, whisk, spatula); and measuring plus storage (measuring cups, measuring spoons, utensil holder).The wooden utensils have a good size and feel to them with the slotted spoon (12 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 1") clocking in at 108 grams, closely followed by the turner (13" x 3" x 1", 100 grams), and the wooden spoon (11" x 2 1/4" x 1", 71 grams) a distant third. They have branding on one side near the notched holes at the end of the handles and look quite nice with the smooth wooden grain. Note that they do come slightly dry and will need to be oiled.The silicone cooking utensils are full-sized and quite nice, especially as the ladle (13" x 3 1/2" x 2", 149 grams) and the turner (12" x 3" x 2", 119 grams) are fully covered with silicone. I was pleasantly surprised by the locking tongs (14" x 2" x 2"-7", 198 grams) which appears to be identical to the one that is sold as an individual unit - sets commonly trade quality for quantity, but not in this case.For the food prep utensils, the peeler (7 1/2" x 1 1/4" x 1 1/2", 70 grams) was again an identical model to the one that I had recently purchased. The spatula (12 1/2" x 2" x 1/2", 99 grams) is completely sealed with silicone and was great for occasional cooking use but is better used for baking along with the whisk (11" with 3" diameter, 84 grams) which also had silicone covered loops. The garlic press (7" x 2" x 3", 270 grams) has been nice as the handles open up to separately expose the press section in the middle for easier cleaning. Rounding out the food prep utensils is the grater (10" x 2 1/2" x 2", 116 grams) which was effective and has a neat design that lets you effectively grate at an angle with less effort.My least favorite items in this set were the plastic measuring spoons (1T, 1 tsp, 1/2 tsp, 1/4 tsp, 57 grams) and measuring cups (1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 178 grams). The only notable aspect was the large font for the capacity, but I was a bit put off by the almost cheap plastic nature of these and would have preferred to see these "eight" items excluded or potentially come in stainless steel. What did come in stainless steel was the pretty cool utensil holder (7" x 4" x 5 1/2", 603 grams) that has a low fixed plastic divider in the center as well as a perforated liner section on the bottom. What's especially nice about the holder is that you can pull off the bottom part for easier cleaning beneath the liner.All in all, this set of OXO kitchen utensils is almost like a "best of" collection and includes high quality items identical to what you can purchase individually. I would recommend this as a great option as a starter set (college, housewarming, wedding gift) and as a way to easily extend or upgrade an existing set of kitchen utensils.

I love OXO, and these utensils did not disappoint! I've been using cheap kitchen utensils for about 5 years, and I didn't really know what I was missing out on until I started using this set. Everything is so much better crafted! The spatula is heavy duty and doesn't bend like my previous one. The whisk actually does its job. The wooden spoons feel so nice in my hand compared to my previous one which was super bulky and uncomfortable. I can go on and on, but I will just say that these are an excellent addition to any kitchen. The only thing I wish were different was that I wish the height of the container was higher. It's pretty low and the utensils don't stick up straight and instead flop to either side. If it were higher, it would provide a tighter fit and wouldn't look as messy in my opinion. Just a small gripe, but not enough for me to deduct a star.
