Huge pain to install then never worked properly. Seemed like it was meant for a tiny door and not a substantial outdoor gate. Hard to get the latch to catch and paint started chipping after a week of use. Finally, went to Lowe's and bought a latch that was made significantly better AND $10 cheaper. Complete ripoff

This can only be used for left outswing. Contrary to what’s shown in pictures it’s unusable for other “opposite” configurations, as handle would move upward to open gate. Installation manual only describes the designed for installation. Good quality but misleading listing.

Mounted this to my fence gate at the rear of the house. Be sure to drill the hole large enough so that the internals do not rub on the fence - I learned the hard way and had to enlarge the hole. Seems a bit flimsy - but we don't use the back gate much, so hoping it will last for a while.

The first thing I noticed about the JUBEST Heavy Duty Gate Latch is that it is solid metal and has some good weight to it. It is well made and looks to be a strong latch. I like the multiple attachment points on both the latch and hook so they are going to stay in place. It looks and feels like a quality product. Unfortunately the distance between the two sides of the latch were too far apart for my gate. I would have needed to add extra wood to make it work. The listing describes it fitting an opening space of 1 3/8"~2 6/19. There is only one solid connecting pin included, so the space between latch sides is fixed and at the far end of that range. Luckily I was able to install it as a single sided latch which worked for my situation. Note that the handle only lifts the latch enough to clear the bracket hook. It does not lift it enough to clear the gate post itself. This means it will not work on a gate that can swing both ways as the latch will block the gate from swinging the opposite direction. It easily self latches when the gate is closed so you do not need to use the handle to re-secure the gate which is a nice feature. A minor gripe...I do wish there was a way to lock the latch in place. There is no option to attach a lock or stop the lever from functioning, so this is not a latch you can use to secure an area. Despite not being able to use the latch as intended, I was able to make it work for my situation.

Had a hard time finding a latch that would work on my gate door that would open out and have handles on both sides. Many of the options are 10x+ more than this in cost. I didn't love the color but I didn't want to pay $500 for a handmade brass latch so I gave this a shot, kind of expecting it to be cheaply made. In actually seems pretty solid. I wonder if internal steel parts will rust, but the bulk of it is solid thick aluminum.
