Great add on!
This has been a great addition to our home. It’s new construction, made of concrete block. I was concerned that the indoor system would not penetrate the walls to run our outdoor wifi enabled security cameras. The outdoor Orbi satellite was outstanding. Easy set up with in the app, I would highly recommend to anybody considering the same.

Can be daisy chained
I have the RBK50 set up with a base and a satellite. I wanted wifi at my barn which is 300 yards away. Took a chance on this. First off, my house has lots of glass and metal. Terrible for wifi. I first bought an Ultra outdoor extender. Pairing is easy, but a bit slow. It takes a good 2 minutes to boot up. Follow direction and be patient and it's very straight forward. I found space inside my garage where wifi signal was good and used the ultra outdoor extender there. With the garage door closed, I get usable wifi signal out to about 200 years away on m iPhone. Not quite to my barn. I talked to tech support and they said the system can use up to 3 satellites. Took a chance an and bought a second Ultra outdoor extender. Pairing is the same. I was a bit concerned when the Orbi app show connection between the second ultra outdoor extender and the base. I wanted a connection between the second outdoor extender and the first outdoor extender, daisy chaining the system. Anyways, I gave it a try and it worked! I got wifi signal all the way to the barn! Funny thing is the second ultra extender does not (!) show up on the app. I tested it several times. When the second one is unplugged, no internet at the barn. When the second one is plugged in, decent internet. When I unplugged the first extender, no internet at the barn. When the first is plugged back in, I get internet. So despite the second ultra extender not showing up on the app for whatever reason, it does work. And it daisy chains on the first ultra extender.I'd give it 4.5 stars. It'd be a true 5-star item if 1. there is an external antenna option for high gain antennas and 2. ethernet ports. There need to be ethernet ports.

Verizon Orbi’s Incompatible Firmware with Netgear Orbi’s
I’ve had two consecutive problems with the outdoor orbi satellites. The 1st one was never able to sync to the router, while the 2nd one initially connected, then continuously fluctuated on and off. This is claimed to be a problem with the firmware, and only way to fix is replace. I have the Orbi router abd one indoor satellite and was looking for improved coverage for the garage and outdoor area. This is truly frustrating for an expensive mesh home wifi setup!Update (Nov-2019): I have Fios and originally purchased the Orbi router and indoor satellite from Verizon. To get additional coverage outside, I purchased the outdoor satellite from Verizon, which failed to sync. After long delays with tech support and both Verizon and Netgear claiming it was the other firm’s responsibility to provide support. After Netgear tech support inaccurately indicated that “any” Netgear Orbi system would connect to the Fios setup, i simply returned the verizon outdoor satellite for a full refund. I then purchased the outdoor unit from Amazon (to avoid the multi-hour wait for Verizon support). As previously noted, this unit would sync, then every minute or so, would disconnect and initiate the resync process. Over the next 5- months (May to Oct 2019), I continued my contact with Netgear tech support who attempted multiple reboots, replacement units (4 to date), and to ultimately be told there is nothing ”we can do”. After some internal discussions with their Level 3 techs, a non-Verizon Orbi outdoor satellite will never work with a Verizon Orbi router due to differences in the firmware. Netgear can not provide compatible, matchingVerizon firmware on any Orbi units. So, Netgear’s delay in diagnosing this problem (over 5-months) has extended well-beyond the Amazon return policy for the purchased unit and they offer no solution (including refund, compatible outdoor or indoor satellite replacement), except for me to buy another Orbi satellite direct from Verizon (understanding that my 1st outdoor unit did not work). So, I am out $350 and wasted about 16 hours working with these so-called technical support folks over the past 5-months on multiple replacement/returned units. I think I might use my $350 “rock” as a paper weight and friendly reminder of how customer service by these giant companies often fail to properly satisfy the sole residential customer. So, BUYER BEWARE. I wonder how many others had similar frustrating experiences?!?!

Nice unit that works well. Electrical plug not designed for protected outdoor outlet (buy a short ext cord)
Easy to set up and works well outdoors. Extended the range of our Orbi network to the backyard area. Only real oversight from Netgear is that the plug for this unit does not fit on a weather-protected outlet (it is the same shape as the indoor satellite). We had to buy a small outdoor extension to plug this in, which leaves the connect exposed unless you wrap it in a protective cover. Would also be nice if this had an ethernet-out port on the bottom so you could plug a camera into it.

If you have an Orbi Mesh system, this is for you!
This Outdoor Satellite is incredible. No durability review yet, as I got it Wednesday and setup the same day. Speed test is from the patio. I think a picked a good spot as well. The last picture is with the ledge claulked and painted as well as the power supply weatherized and painted. Not sure if you will need to go to the extent I did, but we do have bugs in Texas. If you already have an Orbi Mesh network in your home, this is super easy to setup. I put it next to my Orbi Router, plugged it in and hit sync on the Outdoor Satellite and then hit sync on my Orbi Router. Configured within 10 minutes! After having issues with a different device, Amazon accommodated me with refunds of the previous units as well as vendor’s charges as their support wasn't helping.Like I said, if you already have Orbi, or need a great mesh system for your home, I can't recommend anything else and I've tried several. It isn't cheap, but the saying "you get what you pay for" is certainly applicable to Netgear's Orbi system.

Rugged Outdoor WIFI
I have installed the Orbi Satellite on a deck post in my back yard. I now experience great WIFI coverage in my entire back yard. This unit is built rugged to handled all kinds of weather. The only drawback I ran into, the Orbi's electrical plug is too large to fit into a duplex outlet with a standard weather cover. I had to use an exterior rated extension cord from the outlet to the plug.
