Q: Would this brush be suitable for an Australian doodle with curly coat ?

I would think so. I did a lot of research before I bought this brush for my poodle. It gets through his thick coat!

Q: Do the pins have the protective bobbles on the end are the pins very stiff? As a dog groomer i worry about slicker burn .

No I found it a bit scratchy so bought an alternative

Q: would this be suitable for a bichon frise dog

I bought it for my Bichon Frise, it's quite firm, well made, and gets through the coat, but she doesn't like it, I have to use a softer one. It's about what your dog prefers.

Q: I Have a toy poodle 11.5 inches from paw to shoulder should i get this size or go for the small one?

Hi The actual bristles are 4inch wide by 2.5 inch and just under 1/2 inch long with a slight bend making it a great brush to get in to the coat . The handle is just over 5 inch long. Brilliant for grooming . The grip is great and my hands are on the small /medium. Personally I think this would be OK for your little dog but it really depends on the thickness of the coat.
