Nice setup for tree climbing
This is my first tree climbing setup and I'm fairly pleased with everything that was included, the harness is definitely one of those one size fits all situations so if you are in the bigger size range it may not work very well for you. The foot straps were comfortable and well made and kept me feeling very secure in them. All the straps, webbing and hardware were strong and durable and seem like they will last under regular usage. Overall a good quality setup for the price.

Broken guards
Spurs work great, but after 5 uses, the green plastic guard broke. So I can't strap them any more. Also, the leather straps, one of the metal pieces broke and I can no longer use them.

Do not buy
This gear broke and I returned it for a new set. The second set broke also and my guy almost fell out of the tree. Very poor construction.

Decent starter set for climbing palm trees
I purchased this harness and spike set for climbing and trimming palm trees. I’m not a professional tree climber or arborist, but I have done a bit of tree climbing and trimming in my life with borrowed gear. The harness is comfortable and does just fine for what I need. I am 6 foot and 190 pounds. With the straps fully loose I almost have to wiggle into it. If you’re bigger that I am I would consider a larger harness. The strap is good, although you can’t very easily adjust it to compensate for changes in tree truck diameter while climbing. I use a second device not in this kit to make that safer and easier. The spikes are decent, but the plastic digs into your leg despite the padding. Make sure you adjust the height on them to help with that. Also remove the actual spike screws and put some lock tight on the screws. Otherwise the spikes will come loose while your climbing, not what you want when you up in the air. The sparkly ribbons are worthless, so are the gloves.

Cheaply built
Buckle broke during first use. Very uncomfortable design. Won’t use it. Will buy a different brand to use

DIY arborist, chickened out
Wish I could say more than that they looked totally competent for what I intended to do. But.. I sent them back. I chickened out. Just know that the box that comes will overwhelm you, smaking of professionalism and competence for your needs.

With tweaking and some extra padding this climbing gear works ok
This is a reasonably well made gear setup. The harness is well made and comfortable to wear. It adjusted easily. The padding was good. The hardware (load rings) on it is well anchored. The adjustable length lanyard ("climbing belt") is pretty basic standard 1-3/4" webbing and is a maximum of 7 feet long, including the clips on either end. The clips include a safety release lever. The lanyard is going to be limited to fairly small diameter trees. Being standard webbing, it is difficult to flick up the tree as you climb. It is probably the first thing I will replace with a more stout lanyard. The climbers are solid. The steel doesn't flex and is comfortable under the foot. The standard leather foot and ankle straps fit well and have a backing pad in the buckle area for comfort. The included fabric straps to tie the foot in tighter to the climbers do help minimize movement of the climber on the legs, especially as the gaffs are pulled upward from the wood. The total length of the replaceable gaffs is 4-1/4". The spike length is 2-1/4". The spike works ok at 2-1/4" long but would be better if it were 2-1/2" minimum long. The as-received gaff shape needed a little file work at the tip (on the gaff flat only - no other surface was touched) to get the point sharp and to the proper shape (slight convex tip shape on the gaff flat). The filing needed was minimal. The sharpened gaff engaged the wood well and dug in well with minimal weight applied. The plastic calf support, though padded (a little), was not comfortable, regardless of the adjusted position on my bony leg. I will be padding it much more than it currently is. The calf support did cradle my leg well, just not enough padding to be even close to comfortable. I felt safe while climbing with this hardware. With the sharpened gaff, there were no slips in a softwood tree trunk. With some additional padding on the calf support and a different, stiffer, longer lanyard, this will be a nice setup.
