THE BEST Nootropics Guide for Beginners and a REFERENCE for Experienced Neuro hackers
Without a doubt the single book you need on Nootropics - beginner or expertI have been an advocate of nootropics for many years. I do not subscribe to advocating the use of prescription drugs like Modafinil unless under medical supervision and especially not if the advice is coming from a "Bulletproof Carnival Barker". (That individual actually tried to train me personally and it all went horribly wrong cannot blame him but his stuff is great if you are physiologically like him, I am not)I had the first copy of this book which I could not find on Amazon and bought directly from the author's site. Finally it's updated and here's why I think this second updated edition works really well:1) It's simultaneously a guide book, expert insights and also drug reference in one. It also gives the most correct "not pulled out of a hat" dosing information and any very other drug or supplement interactions. I thoroughly suggest you do your own using Google and some critical thinking. It's not that hard and the key is only to stick to trusted sources about drug interactions.2) This book is great for a beginner and essential for the expert - I still consider myself somewhere wandering in that space, perhaps upper quartile. I am always learning something new, curing the mental malaise of modern living.3) He clearly states the one thing i found - if you don't sleep well NONE of this will really work like it does if and when you sleep better. There is suggestions and work on that as well in this book but better may be Matt Walkers book and the Hubermam podcast. I take a magnesium complex that makes me sleep like a baby.what he could have done better:1) Offer the beginner better starting points and protocols to make the first part of it work.2) Offer some way for his readers to submit interaction problems etc via his site. I tried to email to hire him but no response after three times.3) Time of day to best take it4) He does sell for commission supplements and he states clearly he does - that's cool. I do not mind support him and his family if they produce really useful work like this.5) get picked up by a publisher so I can buy the dead tree version. The Amazon press, print one at at time costs way way too much money. I do value the dead trees life but not at that price. But the publishers will make profit in their favor not his sadly.

My wife was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's and I have a lot of research I need to do. This book is helping immensely! I've never seen anything else like it.

David Tomen is the best!
I have followed David Tomen’s website for 2 years & recently purchased his book. Hands down he is the most knowledgeable expert on nootropics. I am so appreciative of his insight & willingness to advise & help others.

A bargain - excellent content, easy to search
If you're hooked on David Tomen's blog but would like to go further, get this book. The Kindle is a great bargain and you can search any term (unlike his blog, which is great - it's free and you can ask David questions-- but you can only search certain main topics). You may be unwittingly taking something that will deprive your brain of choline (for example, DMAE) when you really want to boost choline. It's all spelled out in the book. I highly recommend.
