That Mitchell and Webb Look - Series 1 [DVD]

First of all this is great!Did You Like Peep Show??? Yes? Then this is perfect!Now everybody liked (and still does like) peep show, now this isnt as good, but its so very close and is definately their second best piece of work! now unlike peep show, which was a series with regular characters and the same storyline, this is a sketch show! This is a very good sketch show nearly in the leqagues of monty python, i might regret this but, this is sort of a modern day equivelent of Monty Python (i'm referring to flying circus of course) still with sketches that parody things like the weekest link and other gameshows, but also with sketches that aren't parodies, like the claranet that makes you reveal embarrasing secrets! One of their best sketches was of course NumberWang!!!getting to the point this is a fantastic program, worth watching and worth owning, god i mean its not expensive, 12 pounds!Buy it, buy it now!GO GO BUY IT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!!oh yeah and by the way there's a review on here that gives 1 star, something about dont watch unless your seven. IGNORE this review none of what that review sais is true! For one thing half the jokes are sexual (quite strong actually) i really dont think i seven year old would get that sort of thing, the other jokes are rather suffisticated so it not actually really for seven year olds now is it?!!Also peepm show series four is coming out 5 0r 6 days after this so get that too, which is a great program!!!Hope this review helped!Have fun!

I bought this for a very low price from Amazon and I loved it. I knew straight after seeing the first sketch that I was in for a treat. All six episodes from the first series were there including the great quiz show, Numberwang, The green flute, Sherlock Holmes, Sir Digsby Chicken Caesar and my all time favourite, Angel Summoner and BMX Bandit. My only real problem is that I don't very much like Ted and Peter, the snooker commentators. And another thing you should know is that this is a sketch show and is not the same type of programme as Peep Show.

David Mitchell and Robert Webb have had a lot of success as Mark and Jez in Peep Show, but before all that, they were sketch show writers and had a radio show, which this show stems from. David and Rob's funnies soon got the attention of someone at the BBC, and they got their own TV programme.The show is filled with funny characters, like the snooker commentators who are just pure alcoholics, Sir Digby Chicken Caesar with his crazy stealing and paranoia; the Numberwang quiz where Rob is the host and they just shout out numbers and my favourite - the guys who invite popular celebs and have a good complain about their antics.A few extras on here, like an interview with the guys, a few bloopers and commentaries - all good for that extra value once you've watched it.This is good comedy - and the great thing is they don't overdo it, so they won't have like 5 scenes with Sir Digby like some other comedians do. Plus the comedy really shines a chord with me, the funniest moment being David Mitchell's take on snooty waiters - it had me in stitches.Definitely have a look at this, it's good clean fun which I've enjoyed time and time again.

Absolutely fantastic. This is the best. 100% recommended for everyone. This is (in my opinion) the funniest series of 'That Mitchel And Webb Look' and is brilliant. On my copy there is a slight problem where halfway through the first episode there seems to be a scratch where the sound and picture stop and the DVD jumps to about a minuet later. This is a problem and is something you could be wary of. However the rest of the DVD is fine. 5 stars for the show, 4 stars for the DVD and the scratch. All round great show. definitely worth a buy

i ordered that mitchell and webb look series 1 from japan after watching some clips on youtube. (notice: special equipment is required to play this DVD in japan)i just love the two and watch it over and over. i'm going to order more from their series.i don't understand yet what is funny about "wanganum", but it's fun to watch.

David Mitchell and Robert Webb - what a comedy combination, simply brilliant. Very funny sketches, well written humour. 6 episodes in the series about 30 minute's long each.

Not sure why but DVD was very hard to play and kept skipping. Could just be an old recording, but Ep 3 is very hard to access.

I didn't catch the whole series, but those sketches I did see had me in stitches. The human shortcomings of their characters are always neatly observed... my favourites are Sir Digby Chicken Caesar who suffers from the delusion that he's Sherlock Holmes, Dick Barton and Biggles rolled into one, (in reality he's just a crusty hobo in a Deerstalker hat who's adventures are limited to park benches and dumpsters); then there's crime fighting "duo" Angel Summoner and his redundant sidekick BMX Bandit, and the very posh condencending person who's unaccountably still a waiter.Can't wait for more...

One of the best sketch shows of all time. Disc region 2 plays great on all-region DVD player.

Hysterical and intelligent humor the way only the Brits can do. We bought the DVDs, along with the multi-region DVD player, because we didn't want to be without this series when it cycles off the Netflix/Hulu platforms. We did the same with the Miranda series. It's a shame we don't have humor like this in the US.

Best British sketch comedy since Fry & Laurie. Mitchell & Webb are worthy heirs to the traditions begun by The Goon Show and Monty Python.Re the Region 2 encoding: rip the DVDs onto your computer then watch them as MP4 videos. It's worth that minor hassle to get access to these wonderfully clever sketches.
