I use my DTX400K to drive Superior Drummer 2
I just received this in the mail today. Following the instructions in the manual for my DTX400K, this snare integrated perfectly with my kit and worked right from the start. Just don't forget to go into the DTX module's menu and set the snare type to expect the TP70S (it's all in the manual).I use my DTX400K to drive Superior Drummer 2, EZDrummer 2, and Steven Slate Drums 4.0 via MIDI. This snare integrates perfectly with these programs, providing rimshot and sidestick right out of the box.The drumming surface is the same area as the default single-zone snare that came with the kit, but the added rim makes the whole unit larger than the default snare pad.It was a bummer to discover that I needed a new mount for this snare versus the default pad. I got the Yamaha TPCL150 and while the added expense was a downer, this mount is superior to the default one in every way. The default mount is a combination holder for both the snare arm and the hi-hat pad. It seemed that no matter how tight I got that thumbscrew, it would eventually start drooping. I removed the snare arm altogether so now that original mount only holds the hihat, which it is very capable of. Then I mounted the TPCL150 between the original mount and the joint below the control module mount. The TPCL150 holds the TP70S very securely, with more options for position and angle than the original mount. I'm almost as happy about this as I am about having a 3-zone snare! Now I have a left-over single-zone trigger pad. I found that it juuuuuussst fits on the right-hand arm next to the floor tom pad. So now I need to get that upgraded kick pad so I can use its expansion port to plug in my left-over pad!

Not working with DTX430 drums
Currently not working with DTX-430 drums. With the correct options set zone 2 is totally dead and zones 1 and 3 are intermittent at best. The DTX430 manual states that this pad works with the set, but I get better use out of the TP65 for 1/4 of the price. The kit itself is fantastic. I also installed an extra cymbal and an acoustic cowbell because we *always* need more cowbell!

Works good.
It does cost a lot for just having an extra sensor compare to the stock Yamaha Snare drum.

Not a perfict fit.
Product worked as advertised, however it was advertised as an upgrade to 400dtx drums but did NOT mount on existing snare arm. This meant buying a snare / tom stand. However, I adapted a packing strap secured by included wing nut and some black duck tape that blended in.

Disappointed in the capability
I bought this as an upgrade to the DTX400K electronic drum kit. It is said to have 3 zones, but realistically, only 2 work there. The regular snare sounds the same as expected, the cross stick is moderately functional but you have to make sure your fingers don't touch the middle zone. The rim shot doesn't function the way as advertised. For a $100 product, I was expecting a bit more. Especially since it requires a tom holder kit that is another $40.If you want to upgrade your DTX-400K, the pedal and kick is something you probably want to look at, I don't consider the TP70Sa money worth upgrade for what is costs...The DTX400K itself is phenomenal, I would definitely buy that again also.Xander
