So as a longtime Licensed Ham radio operator with all level certification this is an amazing little radio. It is especially a great radio for anyone getting started in the hobby. I was looking for a good portable GMRS radio for 2 way communication. I purchased a single radio to test it out to make sure it was what I wanted and that it could do everything I wanted it to do. Man this radio did not disappoint. Before I get into details let me get the legal stuff out of the way. This is a GMRS Radio and in order to use it you will need to apply for a licensee with the FCC.When ever I am reviewing a new radio I like to list the Pro's and then the Cons but I am going to be straight up honest with you I could not find any CONS when it comes to this radio. The radio it's self is very well made and durable. The design and the way it feels in your hand just feels natural. It has a full Key Pad which makes it easy to punch in the frequency you wish to use. And the menu is intuitive and if you are just getting into the hobby and learning how to operate a GMRS radio you will not have any trouble navigating. I love that you can display dual frequency's A/B and you can switch between them with just the push of a button. One thing I like to do with my portables is listen to the Police and Fire channels in my community so I can be aware of what is going on. Plus It is very entertaining and it gives you insights into what law enforcement deals with on a daily basis. Be sure to check your state and local laws before you tune into your local law enforcement channels as some jurisdictions have laws that do not allow you to listen to those channels.One of the most notable things about this radio is the User Manual, it is written in perfect English and easy to understand. This is another plus if you are just getting into the hobby since it gives you all the information you need to easily navigate the menus and get it set up for the first time. You will need to purchase a programing cord or wireless programmer since this particular package does not come with one but you are going to be fine and the radio is good to go out of the box, you may want to make it a point to purchase one at a later date as I am so that you can update the radio when the manufacture releases updates. It also allows you to program channels including repeaters in a more simpler way.This package comes with the Radio w/antenna, and ear piece with push to talk button and mic, a wrist strap and a charger with a DC cable. And that brings me to my next point the battery! It comes with a 3800mAh battery that will extend your usage for several day's without needing a charge. This is a better battery than I have seen on even some higher priced radio's. You can also purchase a shoulder mic to go with this radio and the antenna is upgradable to extend your range even further. The radio has 11 NOAA weather channels, 128 channels, including 30 fixed GMRS channels, 22 GMRS two-way channels, 8 GMRS repeater channels.You will get anywhere from 5-8 miles of range. It say's 5 but we were able to max out at 8 without a repeater. And with the 8 repeater channels that are installed you can extend your range way further. The radio is dual band both VHF/UHF and has 9 levels of squelch. you get three scanning modes and even a flash light which is decent being that it is on a radio.To sum it up for the price point you really get a neat little radio that performed way better than what my expectations were this little radio is packed with all the features of an exspensive radio. So even if you are an experienced radio operator like myself or are someone that is just getting into the hobby or thinking about it this radio is for you! I am going to go ahead and purchase the 2 pack with shoulder mics for me and my spouse. Had I known how well this radio was going to perform I would have just pulled the trigger on the two pack to begin with. This is my first time trying out and reviewing Tidradio brand and I can honestly say I will deff purchase from them again in the future. Happy Radioing. Signing off!

This is a good set of radios for the money. I like the extended life batteries. Easy to program and lots of features at a inexpensive price. Great to teach the kids about radio with and get them into repeater use with while not having to worry about 6 and 7 year old's destroying them by accident. They have held up really well.

Radios appear to be well-made and do not have the "toy" feel to them. A rubber plug for the battery charging jack would be nice. To take advantage of the repeater capability, you'll have to do some programming and that is covered in the manual. The ability to easily bounce between two channels as well as two frequencies (channels and frequencies are treated differently by the radios and can be programmed - you should read the manual for the full breakdown of this feature). Honestly, I will most likely use them on the GMRS channels and the NOAA weather channels.ADVICE: Unless you're an experienced radio-head, take time to read the manual, otherwise you may end up frustrated, as it is a heavily menu-oriented device and has a ton of parameters you can adjust. The manual's English is pretty good! I have tried to read through much, much, much worse.The only issue I had was with the accessory speaker/mics that came with the radios - they did not function AT ALL. A quick Google on this told of mis-wiring at the factory on A LOT of them. I contacted TIDRADIO's, customer support center, via email, and within 24 hours they replied with an offer of a credit to my Amazon account so I could buy replacements. I bought a pair of BaoFeng speaker/mics and they work perfectly (TIDRADIO and BaoFeng are now in business together, apparently.)Hope this helps, for the money it is about impossible to go wrong for these 5-watt handhelds.

This radio is awesome for the price. I can hear emergency broadcast and have a two way communication. I'm glad I purchased this for emergency. Long distance communication is great. The bigger the antenna the better lol. Great purchase. Take your time to read and understand the functions and Manual. It's worth your time!

This is a truly legal GMRS Radio package and you must have an FCC GMRS License which covers you and your family. The License price has been reduced to $35 and it takes a couple days thru the FCC website. Once approved you will receive your call sign and you're ready to go.The radio covers all GMRS channels, FRS channels as well as 11 weather channels and FM radio stations.This package includes every accessory you could ever ask for.The radios work great, there is a bit of a learning curve, but plenty of information available. The large batteries hold up for a very long time. If you take the price of this package and divide it by two you have an amazing radio and accessories for a very small price.

These radios are very nice but I gave them a 3 star because of getting them to stay on frequency when you program in the repeater that you want to use it has a tendency to shut down the repeater again and no transmitting but receive or no received that transmit it took a long time to get this to work so I give it a 3-star other than that the radio is a very nice radio works good hope this is of some help to someone out there
