This is a nostalgia book about how great life was in the good old days. It appealed very much to my parents because they recognized their own parents. Partridge does not lie about hard work, primitive equipment and meager standards of living, but there is a rosy glow over the book because it regards mainly people who did pretty well and belonged to the favored classes.If you want to understand why some today long to return to the good old days, this book will help you empathize with their position.
