Lots of fishing bang for your buck.
I've wanted to get my feet wet with saltwater fly fishing, so I picked up a pair of these rods early in 2021 - a 6wt-9' and a 7wt-9' for fishing the beaches, bays & kelp beds around San Diego. I wanted to hold off on my review until I had a chance to use them in various conditions and catch a few fish. Last month I added a third rod to the mix - a 4wt-8'6" for fishing Eastern Sierra trout. Now that I've used them to catch fish from beach, bay, boat, surf & stream, I gotta say I'm pretty impressed - and I'm fairly picky about my fishing gear (I've been building rods since the late '60s, and except for a few vintage classics all of my rods are custom-built, by me or my friends).I didn't expect to like these rods as much as I do. I wanted something cheap I could use just long enough to see if I liked saltwater fly fishing, and if so then I figured I would upgrade. Now that I've used them, I expect I'll hang on to them for a while. If and when I finally get around to finding that perfect blank and wrapping my own perfect fly stick, it'll be because I want to, not because I have to.I won't claim that these rods are exactly the same quality as a premium production or custom rod - I know the difference. But the blanks look good, the ferrules are smooth, tight & precise, the hardware is good quality, the wraps & epoxy work are clean, and the overall look and feel of the rods is very satisfactory - far better than a lot of rods that I've seen in sporting goods stores & tackle shops at 2X or 3X the price.More importantly, I like the way the rods fish - they feel balanced, smooth & forgiving. I'm a few thousand casts short of being a good fly fisherman, but it feels like they are helping my accuracy & distance improve. I've never fished a $500 fly rod, but I kinda doubt that it would feel $450 better 😎The 7wt was the hardest for me to get the hang of, because it's much faster action than I'm used to (most of my fly fishing up to now has been with a 50-yr-old, very slow fiberglass 5wt I built from a Herters catalog kit). But now that I'm getting used to it I appreciate the rod's ability to load up with a full-sinking line and consistently power a weighted fly 50' or more into the breeze without wearing me out. I haven't tied into any really big fish yet, but at least one surf critter has had me into the backing and on the drag, and I know the rod has plenty of backbone.I could keep talking, but you get the idea. Don't let the price put you off. These rods are better than almost anything I see in the big sporting goods stores, and as good or better than some of the rods I've looked at in the specialty shops. If you are just getting started in fly fishing, or expanding your fishing horizons (like I am), or just want another fly rig (like who doesn't?), these rods should make you happy. And at $50 or less it's a screamin' deal - a no brainer.

Best bang per buck period.
I have purchased. . 4. 5. 6. 7 wt swords and matching aoka xs reels over the last season for rediculous prices. One might think .gotta be cheap right?? Well wrong answer .top notch quality at a steal. I bought the 4 complete set ups for the price of 1 redington rod only . ive never broke one even in the learning process and they saw plenty of trees and snags thru learning. Not my only rods but my preferred ones for sure . all 4 reels didn't even cost as much as my redington behemoth and these still work right ..if your on the fence on which of the cheaper setups you can start with . start here ..far better quality than the others of the price range . other companys have sent me free gear to get a good review . .not often im compelled to chime in and give a thumbs up for making quality gear affordable . Thank you. Piscifun for the sword series.

Great fly rod.
I love the guide dots. The bottom guide dot is a little off but it doesn’t take much to get it just right. I’ve used this rod in many applications and it excels. Definitely a good budget fly rod.

Great rod for the money
I bought the 8'6" 4-weight rod just to see how I liked a lighter line-weight rod. For the budget price I was expecting a budget performing rod, boy was I pleasantly surprised. The rod is light weight, and well balanced (as opposed to other rods I have that are tip heavy) with a genuine slow action that casts surprisingly well and makes catching even small panfish a whole lot of fun. Using budget WF4F line I can easily make casts out to 55 to 60 feet , though with its soft, "noodley" action I have to really concentrate on my casting stroke to make the longest casts, and of course shorter casts are a breeze. I bought my rod about 8 months ago, and unfortunately a couple of weeks ago it and 3 other fly rods were stolen out of my truck. I liked this rod so much that it is the one that I wanted to replace first so I just bought another one.

Bought a couple of years ago for my daughter.
I bought this rod, reel, and line for my daughter about two years ago, sight unseen, based on the price and the reviews I read on Amazon. I visited my daughter last month and we took it out to the park, (on the grass, not in a river), because I wanted to see how it performed. The floating fly line performed well, rolling over as it should at the end of the forward cast. Okay, so far, so good. The reel, well, a fly reel is essentially just a device to store the line. This is a simple, basic fly reel, not a gear multiplied reel, nothing fancy but it seemed to be well made and it did its job just fine. The rod: I don't remember what I paid for the whole outfit but I believe it was certainly a reasonable amount. The rod was fantastic. It cast beautifully! Light weight, great backbone to it, casts of impressive lengths were a cinch. I have owned many fly rods in my time, some of them rather expensive, and this rod performed as well as any I've ever had. I give it a 10 out of 10.Really great rod, I hope my daughter can use it for many years.

Connections wouldn't stay together after an hour of casting. Very disappointed.
I have several fly rods and purchased the 6 weight rod as an extra to take other members of my family fishing. Two of the sections did not function properly and would not stay together on the first day. Within one hour of casting, the end piece would no longer stay tight and the connection would not stay together. Horrible quality. I would avoid purchasing this rod.

I had read somewhere that the tip breaks easily, and they are right.
In 2018, used this rod twice but did not catch anything. Used the rod once in 2019 and caught 23 fish (2 - 3.5 lb rainbows) and that was the end. The tip broke just above the connection (also called ferrule). Unlucky, maybe. Also the action is not great. The chrome guides they use is suppose to let the line glide out more easily ... well I don't think so. I did purchase a sword 5/6 wt reel with my Sword 5 wt rod. My floating line is also a brand new 5/6 wt but the casting distance was not there. I like the reel but I can't say as much for the rod.
