Plastic Outdoor Cat Kennel & Ancol Self Heating Pet Pad - Sand Stone Colour

An instant hit, so much so...
... that I bought this soon after buying the green version, which in the meantime had become temporarily unavailable. So I'm copying that review here. It's definitely a worthwhile purchase. Some years ago I bought a similar but slightly smaller cat kennel, and though it does the job adequately I have always felt that the entrance could have done with being more recessed.I believe this model is the answer. It's longer front to back than the old kennel - one of the images helpfully shows the dimensions - and the entrance is set back further, giving a better overhang from the roof and protection from driving rain. One of my semi-ferals took to it immediately after I'd put in the Ancol self-heating pad, plus some generous handfuls of straw bedding (NOT hay). From the way she tucked herself in at the back of the kennel, it's pretty clear it will take another cat, possibly two, if they all agree to get on well together. My cats are outdoor 24/7 (their choice not mine!) and two of them would happily forget their differences and bundle up together in the older kennel during cold weather, so three seems just about possible in this new one. There are drainage holes in the bottom, which makes washing and drying the kennel easy, and if sited carefully bearing in mind prevailing wind directions, like using walls or evergreen shrubs for additional protection from the elements, the cat kennel stays dry. Even so, it might be a worthwhile precaution to raise it up a bit on bricks (one to each corner will do) to help prevent any damp from the ground seeping in through those holes.I don't lament the lack of a cat flap. I can stuff in straw and pads and leave the cats to re-arrange it all without worrying that their nests might obstruct the flap.

It looks cheap but is sturdy
I don’t like the fact it is not in other colours a lot of money for what it is

Extra comfort for my cat
Sometimes my blighter of a cat will decide to stay out all night and will often wail to get back inside in the early hours. This has solved the problem for me. Although he was reluctant at first to use it, he now snuggles up inside and is protected from bad weather on those occasions.

Our feral cat loves it!
Apart from the fact that they sent the green one instead of the sand coloured one that we ordered I cannot fault this item. It is sturdy and the shape will assist in keeping the cold and winter drafts in particular at bay. Our visiting cat is feral and lives outside but it took only 2 days and a very wet night for him to discover the delights of having a secure roof over his head and a warm blanket to snuggle up to. Up until then he would only appear at meal times but now he spends the best part of the day in our garden. So that's a win win all round. By the way, the green one is not as lurid as it looks on the web site and in fact blends well with the garden.

My feral cat uses it
It’s perfect for my feral cat who won’t use shed and is very shy. Really pleased with my purchase I bought another so he has one front and back garden.

Great help for a mad cat lady
I ordered for a stray cat that keeps trying to get into my house. My own 3 house cats would of course not like that at all. In all this rain I could not see the poor abandoned thing just sit on my step. Of course my husband thought I was mad and said the cat would think it was a trap. Well how wrong could you be! Within an hour Voo as I call her was in!!!!!!She still tries to get in but just turns round and curls up in her own little home. She sleeps there every night and most of the day.I no longer feel guilty but just sad knowing someone must have abandoned her. This house was a wonderful refuge for her.Arrived very quickly. Is well made and looks smart outside my stone cottage. Now I know I am truly a mad cat lady.

Great
Great, didn't expect the cat to use it but he loves it.. as he prefers to be outside. But is quite pricey including the liner and heating pads etc.. and can buy cheaper directly.
