Review of Sachs translation
Lively translation and excellent introduction. The intro is worth the price of the book; the two works are widely available in other translations and free on the Internet but this edition is worth the money if you really mean to read these works. Strong binding and high quality paper.

Good buy but there are better places to get it from for cheaper
Needed it for class.

Great translations and intro, poor binding quality
I have my students in a college class on ancient rhetoric use this book. The translations are excellent, and Sachs' differentiation of Aristotle's and Plato's writing styles prompts some lively discussions. The introduction is informative and well-written. Unfortunately, the binding quality of the paperback is extremely poor. Dozens of pages are falling out after a few weeks of totally ordinary use! In my experience this is generally not characteristic of Hackett's imprints – I have several books that I have read more than once as a teacher and student over the last decade that are completely intact. In trying to cut on binding costs, it seems that product quality has been seriously compromised.
