Loved this story! It’s been a long time since I read a rockstar romance - I felt I’d outgrown them. This one had a rockstar but it wasn’t about being a rockstar if that makes sense.I loved the small town and the characters.

Engaging story with great characters and plenty of humor
As one of my favorite authors, I’m always eager to get my hands on a Kylie Scott release and this new standalone doesn’t disappoint. One note for Stage Dive fans: while this is set in the Stage Dive universe as the band gets a mention, none of the band members make an appearance here.Immediately, I was relating to Ani, having grown up in a small town, and as someone with my own trouble with insomnia as well as certain control freak tendencies. I liked that Garrett is sort of grumpy to start out with, and Garrett and Ani getting over their respective pasts was a nice bit of character growth, something I look for in a story and one of the reasons I like this author so much. I thought the author did a good job maintaining the suspense and mystery of exactly why Ani moved back to her small town without spending a lot of time on it—a few relatively subtle clues that let me know something major must have happened but still left me content to just stay engaged and let the plot unfold, instead of impatient to get on with it as sometimes happens.Another reason I enjoy this author’s stories is the amount of humor in them. I had several legitimate laugh out loud moments throughout, many from the secondary characters that are, well, characters, and the idiosyncrasies of small town life. I recently was back visiting my parents, and so many things here rang true, from a store much like the one Ani manages with a little bit of everything to the people who have to know all the gossip, even when (or perhaps especially when) they get it all wrong. As usual, I was torn between devouring this, and trying to savior it and make it last, and as usual, I was left hoping some of the side characters—like Smith in this instance—will get books of their own. Another engaging, enjoyable read that gets five stars from me.
