Great book
My son got his book from the library and we read it a million times, so we had to buy it, lol. He loves this story and can keep reading it over and over…Great book for any Batman fan!

Great for Batman fans old and new!
As a fan of Batman for over forty years, I found Mr. Cosentino's version of the Dark Knight not only to be utterly charming, but also definitive in the same way that Bruce Timm's animated version of Batman is.His art is clearly inspired by the " best" Batman artist of the 50's Dick Spang (one of my favorites) and it's a bit of a thrill to see classic images from great panels of comic art reinterpreted for this book.Plus, the book's simple text prescribes to my personal vision of Batman's origin - one murder, one vow, one science experiment, one weight lift, one bat and bring on the batmobile and super villains! (that's all I need - spare us the "poor me" tortured backstory of Batman Begins)A great introduction to why I love Batman that I am happy to enjoy and share with my kids for years to come.

Best Batman book we have so far!
My son is 5 years old and received this book on his birthday. He can not really read just yet but if you are listening to him reciting this book he can fool you in to thinking that he can. He tells you the story on each page almost word by word. This is his absolute favorite book at the moment. Batman is his favorite super hero so anything batman is on top of the list anyway. He recently went to a birthday party for one of his friends and we gave the birthday boy a copy of this book and my son was pleased to give this book thinking it was a great gift.

High-Quality Retro-Style Book, Excellent for Young Children
Obviously a labor of love by the author/illustrator, this Batman storybook is a high-quality product. It's a hardcover volume with nice glossy pages, which are perfect for conveying Consentino's colorful, action-packed artwork. My four-year-old son received this book for Christmas, and it's been a staple of his bedtime reading ever since. In fact, he already has the text memorized, and he loves the big, bold artwork (which adults can appreciate for its 1940s-ish retro style, right out of the Golden Age of comics). I was so pleased with this publication that I've pre-ordered Consentino's similar "Superman" book due out in April.

great introduction to super heroes for young children!
I bought this book for my 4 year old (just turned 4). He loves it. I love reading it to him. Young boys around 3 years old are curious about super heroes even though they've never seen the cartoons or movies. This author and illustrator do a wonderful job of providing the story of Batman that is very age appropriate. I have also bought the Superman version. I highly recommend them both. I look forward to future releases of this series.

Sanitized and dull
After reading some of the reviews here, I bought this book for my 6-going-on-7 year old daughter who loves comics, namely Spiderman. I thought I would be doing her a favor by obtaining a Batman version that had less gun violence and death than the originals, as stated by some of the reviews of the originals collection. Instead, I felt it was a sanitized version which seems to be priming kids to sponge-like soak up some modern-day DC commercialism. I ended up returning this book and buying the original DC comics where Batman was introduced -- which she read in under and hour -- and loved. And has since reread quite a few times.I'm not sure who this book is for exactly. The age kids it seems geared toward wouldn't have the interest or understanding to appreciate Batman (or any comic) anyway. Really it just seems like commercial indoctrination and nothing more. Sad.

I was a bit mislead
Its a good book but there is hardly any text to it. I was disappointed as I thought this would be something my son could get some credit for reading. It is more of a picture book for a kindergarten level reader.

Excellent book
Perfect book for my 4 year old nephew! Explains Batman's life from the beginning, with an easy to read (and explain) comic style text.
