The device-Having had a total hard drive failure, including the factory reset partition, I had lost all means of restoring windows on my Acer Aspire 5742Z. Installed very easily on a clean (low-level formatted) hard drive, As the machine did not have DVD drive the USB stick format was helpful. The software does not include drivers for ethernet or WiFi so these have to be separately loaded (in my case from OEM website). This can be a touch tricky without Wifi or Ethernet; luckily for me I had a USB wireless device I could plug in and use to download drivers for the built in LAN/WiFi devices. I think if you were repairing an existing installation this would not be a problem as you would most likely have the drivers already loaded.Windows service pack 1 was released some years ago, there are a lot of security updates to catch up with! Lots of restarts of computer to load all the critical updates.This process was much more difficult and time cosuming than installing Ubuntu linux (which loads the relevant WiFi/LAN driver software, and is never more than 6 months out of date), but, if you don't have Operating System recovery disks, and cannot easily get them from OEM or wherever, this is as easy a way as any to reinstall windows 7.

After losing my rather dated laptop to an unavoidable Windows 10 update I swore that I would go back to Windows 7. Although my laptop ceased to do anything after the 'update', once I removed its hard drive and connected it to my desktop I found that my files were still intact, good job, there was three years of work on there. I do much of my work on my laptop 'in the field' so to speak, so after purchasing a new hard drive I bought this item hoping I could get my laptop up and running again the way it was 'before' I upgraded it to Windows 10.I'm delighted to say it does (but be sure you've got your original product key), but you will need to reinstall some of the drivers.My laptop, now on Windows 7, is buzzing and whizzing just as it did before Windows 10, and I have already put it back to work 'in the field'.

My pc had the blue error page and when I put my windows 7 disc in to put a new copy of it the DVD drive burnt disc, what a day I was having.Bought this product and put it in and on my boot screen it was F12 and picked USB boot, now first time nothing happened so I text number which came with USB stick me them tried again and second time works spot on.Might also add that the seller replied within minutes offering technical help but like I say 2nd time worked a treat.Computer back running with a fresh install of windows 7.Top product from top seller, well happy

I wasn't that impressed with either the windows 7 or Windows 10 Flash recovery disk, i could have bought 2 16Byte Flash drives and copied my copies of windows 7 and windows 10 which are both 32 and 64 bit, the Flash drives had only the sellers name on them and apart from piece of paper in each bag i would not have known which was which. The product that was in picture was nothing like what was sent to me, so not very impressed at all

Having selected wndows 7 home premium, I then had to opt for installing the version saving files or not, The saving files would not load despite numerous attempts, so installed the other, as I had recent back up of files to install, but on completing installation, I could neither install my files or set up an internet connection. The windows logo and bold script resemble the old windows SO. So I now have a new SSD hard drive with a useless program installed on it, so what now?S Sissons

Perhaps I got the wrong impression as to what this product would achieve but I found it beyond me to use and when I asked someone who is very experienced he was unable to solve the puzzle. Not wanting to give up he is still trying!

Got me out of a tight spot with my lap top,I had to contact Microsoft and had to put a I believe was a 25 digit code in after I had installed windows Professional a few days later but after that worked a dream, great value for the moneyjust make sure you have the original windows code for your product.
