Homesick HSCA1-MI-WH01 Scented Candle, 13.75 oz, White

I bought the Michigan candle for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day. We live in South Carolina but miss our home state, Michigan, a lot. I loved the idea of this candle; scent can be a very powerful trigger for memories. I was excited when I saw it but when I got it home I realized it didn't really smell like what I thought Michigan smelt like. Personally, I think it should have smelt more outdoorsy (pine, water, wood, etc.) but they went with the cherry/chocolate route. I would say that would have been great, but the rose and honeysuckle smell are over powering. Overall it's not a bad smell and it isn't overpoweringly strong when it's burning either. I do think it's also a bit over priced at $30 for the size that I got as well. The box was pretty though and I'm vain and like everything to look nice and pretty when I give a gift, so there's that.

I have New York, Michigan, South Carolina, and Minnesota. So far Michigan is my favorite. I was worried about Minnesota because it's comprised of scents that usually give me a headache but that didn't happen, whew. Everything is gentle enough to not be overbearing but strong enough to smell lovely. The only thing I dislike is the narrow jar makes it difficult for me to light it with a short lighter (and I have tiny hands) so for ease and comfort a kitchen lighter is a good thing to have on hand. The labels are classy and tasteful, not gaudy. I stopped buying Yankee years ago for the paraffin wax and of the six candles currently in our home three of them are Homesick. Florida is next. <3

A wonderful candle! I bought Michigan for my mom and she loves it. Without burning, just out of the box Michigan smells strongly of roses. A beautiful scent! Although these are somewhat decisive as for the smell, Michigan is good if you like roses. Not sure about other scents mentioned since my mom only burns candles once they lose their scent. Also for anyone lamenting the fact it doesn’t have a lid like I did, a small sized mason jar lid fits really well.

The scent is amazing and you can smell it before you even unbox. Packaging was great with shipment protecting the box making it perfect for gifting. Can’t get over how great this smells.

Smells great and my girlfriend loved it, but it was a little pricey. Still recommend as a gift. The packaging and labeling is aesthetic and quality.

Bought this as a gift for a friend who was moving out of state. She loved it! She said it "smells like Traverse City" because of the cherry scent. Even better that I could buy through amazon at a slight discount with prime shipping.

Lovely fragrance, long lasting. Nice reminder of Michigan.
