Self-defense
My boyfriend got this for his daughter for Christmas. She doesn’t like guns so he gave her something that will help her protect herself. Excellent gift fits in her purse perfect.

Disappointing and unreliable
I purchased this product hoping it would provide a sense of security, but it has been a major disappointment.Weak performance: It doesn't seem powerful enough to be effective in an emergency.Poor battery life: The battery drains quickly, even after minimal use.Low durability: It started malfunctioning just a few weeks after purchase.Difficult to use: The switch or button is unresponsive, making it hard to activate when needed.I cannot recommend this stun gun for self-defense as it’s unreliable and poorly made.

Its real and it really sucks to shoot yourself in the leg...
Not once but twice. The first time I was in my own apartment getting used to the feel of it in my hand basically familiarizing myself with the tool. It's been my experience that it's a good idea to get used to something like this enough so that muscle memory can take over when it needs to be used. It's no good to you if and when you need to pull it out and only then you find out that it hesitancy to be snagged by the elastic in the holster, or maybe perhaps to forget in a moment of need that one does not use a trigger but a button, not there index finger but their thumb. It was at this time after I thought I'd gotten pretty used to it that I pulled it out flicked it with my thumb forward all the way to the ready setting and aiming the laser at a Target I discovered when reholstering it that the button that fires the twin barbs with attached electrodes and delivers the disabling electrical charge can only be described as hair trigger. That hurt. I wouldn't say that it's as disabling as something made for law enforcement or military. But I can say for sure that it is far more than what I expected given the price point. I haven't hit myself with the stun gun configuration so I don't know how powerful electrical discharge is in that format. I was the only one home and the smell of cordite had dissipated by the time my significant other returned from work. What I'm saying is nobody saw me do it and that was nice because the second time I did it it was in the checkout line had my neighborhood of liquor store. I was just trying to buy some beer, and when the clerk told me my total I looked down and thought to myself I wonder what that glowing red light in my pocket is. Well I had slipped that little portable electrocution device in my pocket and somehow the switch to arm the projectile and discharge had been flipped to the ready. So without thinking about it or being all that careful I stuck my hand in my pocket in an attempt to safety the unit discreetly. I don't think I was perfectly successful in that attempt since I accidentally thumbed the discharge button shooting two prongs through the thin fabric of my jeans pocket into my leg resulting in me falling to the floor in front of all the staff and other patrons, like you do. About 30 seconds later I got back up off the ground to an absolute sea of the wildered and frankly terrified alcoholics attempting to figure out which emergency personnel should be contacted to deal with whatever the hell it just happened. And I mean what do you even say at that point? Me obviously recently having just self-tazed, dazed and Confused, mumbling something about dang things and hair triggers reaking of gunpowder and humiliating incompetence. Thank God it was Friday night and the city I live in is astonishing understaffed when it comes to available law enforcement and dispatch operators as two people were already on the phone on hold with 911 trying to get some help for the idiot who just shot himself with a small caliber pistol. I was able to assure them by jumping up and down that I in fact had not just shot myself, at least not with a firearm, and asked them politely to hang up. I was so embarrassed I turned around and walked out not paying for the beer or taking it with me. So yep twice in the leg.

Switch is kinda cheesy and may be hard to grip in time of need
Seems ok but the switch is a bit cheesy. It's not much distance between functions leaving chance for error choice of weak light, annoying alarm siren , zapper stand by ,and tazer stand by. Also if you pre load the tip in unit it doesn't fit in the belt sheath or in the travel case. Zapper is loud and convincingly bright, I'll just believe that it would work well on contact, and tazer well, hopefully I never find out but seems like it should be good. A bit awkward in the hand. Not like a flashlight or a gun, it being odd shaped and square maybe hard to grip in the time of need.
