This is a good paring knife for the price you are paying for it. The edge is sharp, and if you are vegetarian, cutting and peeling fruits and vegetables will be a breeze (as would be meat, if not). The handle is easy to hold, so yes, you will get a good, easy-to-use knife.On the other hand, if you buy this knife because you are enamored with Japanese knives hand-made by erstwhile sword makers, this knife is not for you. This knife is an industrial product, quite standard, not different in looks (although still different in having and maintaining a sharper edge than good quality German or French knives). The handle is not wood.All in all, it is a good addition to the kitchen that you will likely reach for often. If you really want a Japanese knife handmade by a master, then increase your budget five- or ten-times and find that special knife elsewhere.

Measured the knife angle to be 20.5 degrees out the box but very well finished and paper slicing sharp. Took time to lower the angle to 15 degrees on a tormek T8 and created a mirror finish with the tormek Japanese water stone. The edge held up with no chips or rolls.Definitely a great price to performance ratio to get that thin blade stock and shallow Asiatic 15 degree cutting angle compared to the western 20 degree. It's possible to slice vegetables transparently thin. Full tang construction means there's no fear of the handle coming off which is a concern at the cheaper end of knife production. All in the price for what you're getting is fantastic. Oh and it's well balanced immediately after the bolster.

Quality, well made product for a reasonable price. Honed 4 large knives perfectly. I would reccomend.
