This comprehensive book walks you through the thinking and strategy of the principle antagonists for both wars. With maps and descriptions of weaponry it helps you see what took place during the major battles. The pages consistently have 2 photos per page.There is enough information to peak your interest in reading other books about specific battles and persons as this book provides overall coverage of the conflicts but few details other than captions for photos. One thing that is an improvement over many other summation books is that it gives balance to what happened on the Eastern Front in both wars.The individual chapters are fast paced and well written. This is not a boring history book of dates and names nor is it one that over emphasizes the U.S role. The interspersed subjects breakup the battle discussions and help you see the improved weaponry as time progressed. I would label this a quick reference book that also shows the tie-ins between the World Wars.
