RAPID!!!
The computer I use most is a home theatre PC. I have no real use for this speed and performance to be honest, I dont play many games nor do I do video processing - but the performance is nice to have! Why buy this over any other SSD? Well, to be honest I am heavily biased. I don't know how anyone else feels about losing music/photos/documents as a result of hard drive failures, but I have had my fair share and it has changed my perspective on buying cheap products. Plextor however, as renowned as having one of the lowest returns during warranty period worldwide and that is what you are paying for here. The extent that Plextor go to in order to provide products which are fantastic and reliable is remarkable. The main reason I bought this is because my HTPC case is an ATX case, but the asus ROG motherboard mounts all its SATA ports horizontally which leaves me little space whatsoever to plug devices in. So, the benefit of using a PCIE slot instead of SATA suited me personally and I choose plextor for their reliability. You can get a standard SSD like OCZ or kingston at 1 million hours MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) for a bit cheaper, or you can buy plextor with 2.4 million hours MTBF.Oh and did I mention this is RAPID!?!!

Very nice piece of kit
Very nice piece of kit, very quick install of windows 8.1 64 bit, (about 10 mins) just make sure your mobo can boot from pci ;) would and will recommend to anyone ;) speedy delivery too!

Fast but expensive per Gb
I installed this on an older mobo, so a SATA 600 drive would not gain me any speed benefit. Easy to fit and was recognised right away when I installed Windows 7 64 bit which treats it as any other drive. Booting off this device is fine as it's recognized by the BIOS.A shame it doesn't ship with a half-height bracket so it would be a neat fit into mini-servers like the HP N54L.Windows Experience Index for disk was 7.9 as you'd expect. In actual use as a scratch disk for Photoshop etc. it's super-quick. I used one of the on-line guides to optimise Windows 7 for SSD by turning off Superfetch etc.My unit shipped with 1.03 firmware, there is 1.04 on the Plextor site if you dig around a bit. The upgrade requires you boot DOS off a USB disk to run the update program, so I've left that for now.The memory card is fitted into a connector on the board, so maybe the price of these M.2 boards will drop and an upgrade to 1Tb will be affordable in a few years. As it stands, with just 256Gb you'll need a multi-Tb data disk or a NAS to hold any serious amount of media.

Impressed with the price/performance balance
Great drive, paired it with an Asus H97M-E. Bios is kind of quirky as it's not listed anywhere but the boot options. No issues using it, cloned my old hdd right onto it and worked flawless so far. You can get a 2.5" drive for lower prices but will not reach same speeds as this one. It's more of a speed drive than price effective but it's balanced for the performance it offers.I would place it between consumer SSDs and enthusiast drives. Didn't used the hybrid features Intel provides to cache data for spindle drives on S-ATA ports as I have a NAS for data storage and use this one for windows and things I want fast. It's better balanced than a 120Gb drive disk space wise as it allows quite a lot of programs besides Windows itself. Used it with Win7 x64 SP1 without a hitch, no drivers needed, no additional steps to follow. Stick it in and you're good to go. EasyUS Partition Master is a free tool to migrate your Windows installation from the old drive to the new one. I don't see any minuses for this drive.

Great speed and for an M.2 right now, good looks.
Awesome device. Love it, so fast and looks great when you peel the sticker off it. Looks part of the mobo.

A good option.
As my new system-build has a motherboard with an M2 connector, It seemed logical to make use of it! The Plextor had good reviews, so went for this model. It might not be the cheapest route to adding SSD, but the results are certainly good. System boot-up is so much faster and running Office from the Plextor with data storage consigned to the standard HDD is quick!

excellent customer service from Amazon
Very fast drive, unfortunately my first drive stopped work after less than two weeks, I rang Plextor who was no help at all, I rang amazon on the Friday and they were very helpful and immediately sent a replacement out which I received the next day on the Saturday, excellent customer service from Amazon. I like the drive a lot and for a drive in this class (speed and PCi Express) I think it's quite good for the money.
