This is perfect for SmashBurgers allowing you to smash the patty thin rocking back and forth with extra pressure to edges, hold flat for 10 seconds to get full contact to griddle for Maillard reaction to caramelize bottom. It allows great control on round burger. It is very thick and heave stainless steel which feels incredibly strong. It also has a nice hard rubber grip which overlaps the stainless to ensure your hands do not get burnt should you leave it on the surface.This is not as heavy as cast iron, but surprisingly heavy and perfectly flat which is what is needed for SmashBurgers. Most cast iron seems to have ridges which conflicts with a perfectly flat burger, but also difficult to clean, rust, etc. It appears to be built very well, stainless and in dishwasher multiple times already with no issues. Will watch, but seems to be very nice.

Another one of these bomb-proof, last-your-entire-lifetime tools. I think the rubber handle will fail in time; that said, this thing is thick and heavy. I have used it many times for smashburgers and this thing delivers. Zero flex, hefty weight and hefty grip. I love that you can throw this in the dishwasher, and I do regularly with no problem so far. I do think that dishwashing will cause that rubber handle to fail sooner than hand-washing, but that's OK. Why didn't I get this sooner?

Heavy and solid feeling. I would like the handle to be higher so as to keep your hand away from the heat. Note that you will need a glove on your hand it you smash burgers with this on a hot pan.

I almost got an expensive cast iron press. This one worked fine for half the cost. Ground turkey burgers might still stick a little but just rub some oil or butter on the surface and it shouldn’t. I wouldn’t get anything smaller than this 6” size

Love this, have used it several times. I find smashing the burger between sheets of parchment makes a more consistent shape than doing right on the griddle. Fantastic quality, will buy another for the lake. Highly recommend.
