T-Tape: Book spine repair tape. 3cm x 1 metre This is a specialist tape used by professionals and amateurs in libraries, museums and homes around the world for repairing the spines of books. It is self-adhesive, acid-free and reversible. T-Tape is much kinder to books that the off-the-shelf alternatives which should never be used due to their adverse effect on the item you are trying to save. You've probably handled books repaired with gaffer tape? It leaves a horrible gooey adhesive residue which is difficult to remove and in many cases damages them forever. You've seen books and documents repaired with sellotape? The tape has degraded, yellowed, cracked and left a yellow/brown acidic mark on the very thing it was supposed to mend. This is why you shouldn't use these materials for these tasks, they were not made to do this. Vintage Paper Co specialist tapes are very easy to use. The tape is made of cloth with an acid-free adhesive on the other side and is mounted onto a removable paper backing. Simply measure the length you require, trim with scissors or a craft knife, remove the paper backing and position it onto the repair area and use a little pressure to smooth it and to fully activate the adhesive. We recommend that you use a bone folder (made with bone, not wood or plastic as they're no good) when applying this tape. It helps to remove air bubbles and fully activates the adhesive. Please Note: The tapes are sent flat and folded. You may notice that on receiving these that there is a crease in the cloth where it's been folded, however this will be not permanent and will disappear when applied to the book you're repairing.
