update
actually portable! it's only slightly bigger than a peltier type but is a dessicant. there's a bit of an off smell but hoping will fade off with time. 180w is good for dessicant. because it's small the plug doesn't reach the socket so it's on a table but it's a small compromise for portability. initially couldn't get the lid off the tank but it's just v tight. can't set desired humidity level. if humidity reaches 50-55% it will stop dehumidifying even if timer is on and it keeps running. not sure if/when kicks back in. slight concern rubber plug in tank will leak but not done so so far. instructions confusingly advise not to run directly under air conditioning unit but unsure why anyone would want to use a heater type dehumidifier at the same time as air conditioning as it will make the ac run harder: a compressor type would be better if anyone wants extra dehumidification in addition to ac.Update: have had to drop one star as it's so hard to remove the tank from the unit and so hard to get the tank lid off it really hurts my hands and wrists. If the tank was full water would go everywhere with the effort of trying to remove the lid. I don't know why it's so hard to remove the tank from the unit. It's getting more difficult over time not loosening off at all. Disappointed that it's running much louder than when new even though the filter does not need cleaning.

It looks simple but is a bit inconvenient to use.
The dehumidification power is not too bad and it is easy to use. However, cleaning the water storage tank after dehumidification is troublesome. Before each cleaning, you need to push it forward quickly to pour out the remaining water in the machine. If you don't do this, about a tablespoon of water will flow to the ground.

it is fairly quiet on lowest speed
very easy to set-up with a clear booklet of instructions included. There is no humidistat display or settings to switch off when a certain humidity has been reached but this is a budget machine and seems well built. There is a smell when first using the machine which fades after a few hours of use but still is noticeable to me each time I start it up. I collected a container of water over about 4 nights of use in a bedroom and have a home built sensor that shows me the humidity dropping from 80% to 70% after about 40 mins of use and this is enough to reduce condensation on the inside of my bedroom window during the night and thus reduce mould in the longer term. After a weeks usage there is a bit of an additional periodic background noise that probably coincides with the internal drum being rotated or possibly a fan bearing so we'll see after longer usage what happens. Overall it seems good value although having an humidistat setting/display would be better.

Stopped
The item was great initially and I was extremely impressed but it has now stopped working…. A couple of weeks after the Amazon 30day returns policy ended so now need to go through the manufacturers warranty process! The unit light is on and fan goes but does not collect any water in a very wet conservatory overnight. I have also checked the filter and inlet are clear.Very disappointed
