Love love love this!!
I love this canteen. The design is absolutely adorable and it is completely leak proof. I love the fact that I could wear around my body as I always feel that my water bottles weigh down my current bag. This bottle is lightweight and a high-quality. My only issue is that because it’s metal, it does tend to dent a bit easier and doesn’t look as a new as it did after only a few uses.

High Quality H20 … vessel
I’ll start by saying I’m absolutely a Stanley fanboy - so take that into this if you need.I saw these as I was getting hiking gifts for the family (because we hike. As a family.) and thought, what the heck? The novelty is there and it seems practical enough.Love the classic hammertone green that I purchased for all of us - that classic Stanley vibe (that’s what the kewl kids are saying, yeah?), build quality was fantastic, and really enjoy the widemouth option for filling, but that the kid has a screw top for drinking.I purchased a “tactical canteen holder” (because tactical is tacti-COOL! Amirght?) and it fits in so well and added some belt functionality that would allow for shorter hikes or walks to have this at the center and then the essentials easily available. All this to say, if you want to hydrate like your grandfathers and great grandfathers did when they were pushing back the nazis or liberating the Pacific? This is the way to go.If you prefer a more peaceful version of that - this is a quality product (not insulated) that will make you feel like an adventurer while providing plenty of water!

Very light, comfortable, easy to grip, sweats a whole lot
I bought this new Stanley canteen because I don't have the grip strength to manage round 32oz water bottles any more due to carpal tunnel. This canteen sweats a lot because it's not insulated. So, even though the shape is easier for me to hold, it does get pretty slippery. The most important things for me when hiking are the weight, easy grip, and close fit to the body. So, the sweating wasn't a deal realer for me.I think a standard USGI canteen pouch would fit this just fine, and it would solve the sweating issue while providing insulation. But, it would also add some bulk that I wasn't willing to deal with.Ideally, someone would make a universal neoprene canteen sleeve. But, to my utter shock and dismay, nothing like that seems to exist. Laken makes a neoprene sleeve for their canteens, but it can't be purchased separately and doesn't look like it would fit a standard USGI style canteen.I ended up buying the TahoeBay Universal Handholds for Tumblers. It comes with three sizes. The large size sleeve will fit the Stanley canteen if you want it bad enough. The grippy interior lining of the sleeve is great once it's on, but getting it on there was a real struggle. The sleeve does help a lot with sweating and a little bit with insulation. The second photo shows the level of ice when I first filled it (ambient temp around 78°F). The third photo is the sweat that accumulated at the base within about 60 seconds. The fourth photo is after about an hour (very little change in ice level). Fifth photo is sweat around the base at that time. Sixth photo is a couple hours after that, including a 40-min bike ride in direct sun at 82°F (no ice left, but the water was still chilly). All in all I'm really happy with the canteen. I love the shape, it weighs nothing, and it hangs close to my body, making it easy to maneuver through brush, etc.

Disappointment Guaranteed
Does not keep water cold at all. I bought this for a planned out trip so sadly I can’t return it or I would because it’s junk. I was so excited to take it on a hike in Costa Rica only to find my water hot as boiled water. I had filled it with ice and water expecting a nice cold drink. Fail item do not buy because of the brand and aesthetic.

Smaller than expected
This product is significantly more compact than I had expected when ordering. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it bears significant resemblance to a flask used for alcohol. This similarity may make it inappropriate for certain environments. It appears to be good quality otherwise.

A great single wall canteen that stays true to it's roots
Thank you Stanley for making a modern canteen that stays true to it's roots! Since the top unscrews from the canteen you can use it in an emergency to heat/boil water using a camp stove or fire. If you are looking for a nesting canteen cup the USGI and pathfinder are too small. The only one I have found that fits like 90% is the BCB crusader MK2 cup, the one with the straight wall lip. I have not dug out my original crusader cup to test but I would think that it will mostly fit. This canteen is getting some undeserved low reviews because buyers are making assumptions rather than read the actual listing from Stanley. No where in the listing does it say anything about being double walled or insulated. We all know what happens when you assume. If you want a Stanley canteen that IS double wall you need to check out the Cross Bottle. I have no affiliation with Stanley, I just like their stuff.

Hardware bangs against canteen
I returned, the clanging of the strap hardware on the canteen would have been annoying. If that wouldn't bother you, it's a nice color & Stanley products last a long time.
