The best smart lock on the market?
I was looking for a smart lock which was reliable, easy to fit and didn't need any modifications making to my door. After looking at many locks, and reading a lot of reviews, I opted for this LOQED lock. The website has a compatibility checker but most modern UK locks seem to be compatible. It took about 30 minutes to fit and adapters are supplied for different lock types and various handle and lock positions. You then calibrate the lock to work with your specific lock mechanism. The lock retains your existing external handle but has its own internal handle incorporated into a fairly neat internal mechanism. The only external difference to the door once the lock is fitted is a small black touch sensor where the original key hole was. The touch sensor has 2 tiny metal terminals which can be use to power the lock with a standard 9v battery in the event of the internal batteries unexpectedly running out (the digital key is still needed to open it). The app was easy to set up and use on my iPhone and has a lot of useful features. For example, you can set the lock to automatically lock or unlock at pre-set times and it can be activated remotely over the internet. It's easy to give someone a unique digital key and you can even limit when they are able to use it. The lock can be operated from inside by just briefly twisting the knob which operates the motor. The original alkaline batteries supplied still show about 80% after 4 months of use. There are only 2 potential downsides to owning this lock. The motor is quite loud when it operates, but this seems to be a common observation with many other smart locks on the market. It's expensive compared to some other locks. That said, in my opinion you definitely get what you pay for and it comes as standard with a Wi-Fi bridge for connecting it to the Internet (which can be an additional cost with other locks). The lock has worked reliably since it was installed and I have no reservations about recommending it.

I have a 20 year old door so it wasn't easy. Support excellent.
The media could not be loaded. I have an old UPVC door, with 240mm screw hole positions. This meant one screw fixing was exposed outside of the internal lock casing. Not a deal breaker but an annoyance from an aesthetic POV.Had a lot of trouble setting it up, however I do again think this is due to the age of the door and lock mechanism, but one thing to fight with if you have older doors. My door lock type is discontinued also, so a new door is required.Be prepared for a fight if you have an old door like myself :), however, if you need help the support is fantastic. They have proactively been in touch with me due to some issues I had when I was setting the lock up. I can't fault their commitment to make their company a trusted brand. In terms of living with this lock, I have to say the touch to open / unlock feature when you have been away from home, over 500m, is fantastic and worked flawlessly.I am also using, in parallel with the touch to open, the feature where it detects if you are outside of the door and then allows you to touch to open when just popping out and not going away from home is working great so far.So issues I have had:240mm screw hole fixings. Due to my old door the setup meant that the position of the lock body left the top fixing hole for the external handle exposed. Not a big deal and this is an older design of door / lock.Setup of the features were hard to follow for me at the beginning. Me getting confused by the options you have for using the smart features. Some are activated via a website others in the app. Support were spot on here and guided me to the right setup.Easy to open from the inside, so children could open it simply by turning the internal knob. No safety or child proofing feature here.My lock is lift to engage the dead locks. This is no problem, though I had to really put some effort into my old door to make it as sweet as possible so the lock would stop complaining that there was an issue locking. It had too much resistance against the motor I think. This was due to the old door, so ensuring it was well aligned in the frame and the mechanism was as free as possible took me a fair amount of time.Inner door handle coming loose over time. This was due to the plastic square tube insert I needed, as my spindle was smaller than normal. Again an old lock mechanism causing me issues. However support came to the rescue again and helped me with this. I can't say enough about the support, if you are fighting with something, don't be annoyed get in touch. I was close to giving up with the issues but they got me through the niggles.Noisy motor. Not much you can do with this but it is noisy. If you want to reduce the locking noise you can turn of / off an option where the motor will assist you when locking, so it almost acts as a switch when you turn the internal knob to lock the door. It senses you turning to lock and the motor kicks in to do the rest. I use this as it is about 2 turns of the knob to lock, so I put up with the motor noise for the benefit of making it easier for me. As I start to turn the knob it then carries on with the rest of the turns. Down side is additional noise. Again, I think this could be my old lock mechanism adding to the turns. I cant source another as it is discontinued.I also had to make a new fixing hole in the UPVC again due to my old standard locking mechanism. I used a heated metal insert to add this extra screw thread to bold the LOQED lock in position. So, having looked at what I've written above it seems like a very old (20 yrs) UPVC door with 240mm fixing holes for the handles can be a challenge.Good:It is very easy to use once setup. I simply have my phone on me and I touch the external sensor and it opens.Locking is just done by touching the sensor for 2 seconds. Quite easy.Support is great and I do believe they listen to feedback and are looking to improve their products going forward.Contacted through App, email and phone to assist.I am sure for others it will be much easier, as most reviews and videos show on YouTube. I had a struggle but it still came good in the end on an old door.I liked the step by step guide to fitting the lock which is art of the app and setup.Good FAQ's and guides also. I just needed to read them properly :DUpdate: 6 Apr 24.The lock has more and more struggled to operate the lock mechanism of the door correctly. Almost every time it's used now, it emails me saying that there is a problem with the lock. And in the last a couple of days it is started to feel mechanically difficult when manually operating the turn to lock, and when it automatically locks following that initial turn by hand the motor then really struggles. Batteries are not low on charge either.I've checked all the door mechanisms as best I can lubricated everything, and I have to admit as much as the Yale lock annoyed me, this one seems to be going downhill. In terms of smart, this lock is smarter than the Yale connexis L1 but the Yale at least worked more consistently.I might swap back and return this one. I'll contact support and see how things go from there.A sad day, as I loved the simplicity of using the lock. Smart it is.Update 5 May 2024:Well, it appears that if the batteries are less than ~60% charged it really labours when mechanically unlocking. The noise is a real put off, and although I thought it to be a minor thing it is not becoming background noise as I'd hoped it would. The mechanical issues with the lock appear to be getting worse. I've felt some horrible resistance when manually turning the lock knob to unlock the lock mechanism, and I use assisted unlock as if I don't I have to turn the knob so many times it feels like I'm there forever doing it.As said before the smart side is great but the mechanical and motor side is proving weak by design.Having see other videos of the motor working I now do not feel like the issues are my older door. Also, I have adjusted the door so much that it has never felt so slick, smooth and easy to open mechanically by the handle ever before.Coming very close to a request for a refund due to the above issues.I'm not sure I would recommend! Stars are reducing each time I struggle with something.

Superb product and app backed up with fantastic customer service
I recently purchased the 'black edition' LOQED Touch Smart Lock after extensive research of the limited amount of these type of locks available on the UK market. It arrived next day via Amazon and I proceeded to unbox and fit it to my front door. The first thing I noticed was that the optional power kit was included (8 rechargeable AA batteries and the charger) which was a nice if unexpected surprise. The charger plugs into the lock when the batteries are nearing depletion saving on annual purchases of Alkaline or Lithium batteries...... result. Unfortunately for me however I had already purchased the power kit in advance separately from LOQED's own website as it wasn't available at time of writing on Amazon UK. It was being shipped via UPS from the Netherlands. I contacted customer services and they reimbursed me almost immediately no questions asked.......fantastic. I've since installed the lock which was very straightforward using the step by step instructions and schematics included within the LOQED app. It took about just under an hour slightly longer than the quoted 30 minutes. Build quality is excellent and this lock has the highest independently assessed security level of any smart lock on the UK market. The app is frequently updated and well laid out without being complicated and I have integrated it into my Alexa ecosystem. Any cons? Not really if I had to knit pick the motor when engaging or disengaging the lock makes a wee bit of a noise but lasts only seconds and this is common with all smart locks. If you're in the market for one I can highly recommend this lock and their customer services.•3 Month Update• Still working great and their rechargeable batteries are performing well only dropped 1 bar of 5 in the app in 3 months. Recent lock software update also. Love the fact I can issue digital keys via WhatsApp and E-mail and rescind them if required and control the time of access from anywhere on the planet (subject to cellular or WiFi availability). My best buy of 2023 so far......
